November 2012
Greetings!

Please join Alpar Architectural Products in celebrating the launch of the Health Product Declaration (HPD) Open Standard Version 1, the first open standard format for reporting contents and chemical hazards in building products.

Alpar was one of the 29 building product manufacturers that worked with the Health Product Declaration Pilot Project Committee to provide input into the standard, which will be maintained by the newly-formed HPD Collaborative. As part of that effort, we provided full disclosure of chemical contents and corresponding known health information of the products we make. Our feedback about the format and process for disclosure helped the Committee develop the HPD Open Standard Version 1, which will be unveiled at Greenbuild.

We believe that transparency and disclosure are critical to cutting through greenwash and providing designers, specifiers and owners with meaningful information for making informed decisions. The HPD Open Standard provides a valuable tool for streamlining that process. The HPD Open Standard and a press release with more information is available at www.hpdcollaborative.org.

We hope that Alpar's participation in the HPD Collaboration will help inspire other manufacturers to disclose their product information, and that designers and specifiers demand this information for the products they specify.

Sincerely,

About Alpar Architectural Products

Alpar Architectural's mission is to provide high-performance building products that have the least possible environmental impact.

Alpar Architectural manufactures wall and corner guards and sheet wall protection from a variety of environmentally friendly materials including deTerra® biobased polymer.   DeTerra biobased polymer is PVC-free and petroleum-free, and is the construction industry's only fire-rated biobased polymer.  More than 90% biobased and rapidly renewable, it exceeds fire test performance of PVC, ABS and PETG when tested to ASTM E-84, and meets or exceeds most mechanical performance tests relevant to wall protection.   We also offer a range of stainless steel and wood profiles.

To learn more about the human and environmental health issues related to the manufacture, use and disposal of PVC, visit our resources page on our website or click HERE.

deTerra is a registered trademark of Interfacial Solutions IP, LLC.

Alpar Architectural is a subsidiary of the Pawling Logo Pawling Corporation.  Click the logo for more information.
