The Greatest General

Let me tell you about a man who died and met Saint Peter at the pearly gates. Realizing Saint Peter was a wise and knowledgeable person, he said, "Saint Peter, I have been interested in military history for many years. Tell me who the greatest general of all times was?"

Saint Peter quickly responded, "Oh, that's a simple question. It is that man right over there," as he pointed nearby. The man said, "You must be mistaken, Saint Peter. I knew that man on earth. He was just a common laborer."  "That's right, my friend," replied Saint Peter. "But he would have been the greatest general of all time -- If he had been a general."

You were created with natural abilities and an internal compass that guides you toward a particular focus for your life. That's only the starting point; the next step is yours. You have an obligation to expand and develop that potential to its ultimate destiny.

Michelangelo said, "It is only well with me when I have a chisel in my hand."

Discover your potential then develop it and acheive your destiny!

What Leaders are Reading

THE DIP by Seth Godin -

Yet another easily digestible social marketplace commentary from the blogger/author who penned Purple Cow and Small is the New Big, Godin prescribes a cleverly counter-intuitive way to approach one's potential for success. Smart, honest, and refreshingly free of self-help posturing, this primer on winning-through-quitting is at once motivational and comically indifferent, making the lofty goal of "becoming the best in the world" an achievable proposition-all you need is to "start doing some quitting."

Leadeship Tip of The Month

You have the ability to lead!

Erase from your mind now, any traces of the myth that "leaders are born, not made."

When you examine the qualities that make a good leader, ask yourself: Was this person born with these well-developed leadership traits?  The answer is an emphatic "NO!"

Like the "Greatest General" you were created with natural abilities. How you develop those abilities and how you channel them into leadership traits is up to you.

To become an effective leader seek leadership opportunities. Develop your skills, learn from your mistakes and be what you can be.
