As I See It...
| Promise Yourself To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give a smile to every living creature you meet. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side so as long as you are true to the best that is in you."
-- Christian D. Larson, Your Forces and How to Use Them
I have a copy of this on my office wall. Each day I read it, knowing I have a long way to go; appreciating the guide I have to follow.
Don't get caught up in the minutiae, always try to see the big picture and be kind to yourself.
Being kind to you makes it much easier to show compassion to others.
Appreciate the part you play in other's lives and how important your role is in the world!
Enjoy the life you have, regardless of the struggle, it's the struggle that you'll remember later.
Live in the moment for the past in gone and the future may never happen.
Do your best; doing so will help you sleep.
Anonymity should be forsaken.
You are worth a memory.
Each one of you is capable of greatness, you accomplish this every day. Gary Buysse Rogers
PS: If you use Tom Shay's If You Lower your Price Calculator you will discover that it is necessary, with a cost of 15.60, for you to sell 789 units of an item at $16.99 to equal the gross profit you would achieve selling 250 units at $19.99!

Illegal Promotional Pull Tabs | Minnesota Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Agents recently discovered illegal promotional pull-tab games taking place in Northwest Minnesota establishments and bars.
These games require the purchase of alcohol in exchange for a promotional pull-tab that gives customers a chance to win discounted drinks. Agents educated the establishments on Minnesota law that requires all promotional pull-tab games to be licensed by the Gambling Control Board. In ongoing discussions, agents also learned that the advertisement materials were supplied by alcohol distributors, which is also illegal under Minnesota law. Agents spoke with those distributors, educating them on the law and best practices when working with their partners.

What Drives Each Generation
| From Nightclub.com Perhaps your bar is packed with the younger crowd on weekends. But keep in mind that although Millennials (those born between 1982 and 2000) number 83 million, the Boomer crowd at 75 million is not far behind. Of course, the Traditionalists (born between 1900 and 1945) are a part of the mix of consumers of drinking age too! They are sometimes called The Greatest Generation or the Silent Generation. For a great summary of the events, icons, and values that drive each generation, check out this chart - which includes work attitudes. |
In and Out of the House | Bill was in his front yard mowing grass when his neighbor Steve came out of the house and went straight to the mail box.
Steve opened it, slammed it shut, and stormed back in the house.
A little later Steve came out of his house and again went to the mail box and again opened it, then slammed it shut again.
Angrily, back into the house he went.
As Bill was getting ready to edge the lawn, here Steve came out again, marched to the mail box, opened it and then slammed it closed harder than ever.
Puzzled by his actions Bill asked Steve, "Is something wrong?"
To which he replied, "There certainly is! My stupid computer keeps giving me a message saying, "YOU'VE GOT MAIL!" |
There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right.
