We recently joined up with Buffalo Wine and Spirits and attended a wine seminar with Robin Casper from St. Michelle Wine Estates.
It was set up for a Sunday Afternoon and I made it mandatory for my staff to attend. I paid them for 2 hours and it lasted almost that long.
Robin did a great job with wine basics and all of my staff gave me positive feedback afterwards.
We are very fortunate in our industry to have so many resources when it comes to the further education of staff and ourselves.
Where the private liquor industry views each other and municipals as competition; we have the unique situation of a huge network within all our stores to seek guidance and suggestions from each other and our commercial members.
A current list of those members is available in the Municipal Liquor Store magazine.
We have a few new managers in the municipal organization this year; and I encourage new managers as well as any managers or staff to reach out to another manager, board member, or Paul Kaspzsak with any questions or concerns you may have.
There are no stupid questions!!
It is about six weeks until our annual conference at Arrowwood Resort in Alexandria. Paul has some great topics lined up for this and I always come away with new ideas for my store.
If you have never attended the conference; make this your first year...it is a great opportunity we have available to us to increase our profits for our city.
