Meet our feature artist for September
Linda Edwards

META4's connection with local painter Linda Edwards goes back to our early days, when Linda became one of our first studio instructors. Multi-talented and highly regarded, Linda has taught or currently teaches drawing, portrait painting, landscape painting, oils, watercolours and acrylics, as well as children's programs in META4's studio.

In recent years she has been able to spend time in her own studio. Her paintings in oils and watercolours are influenced by the many hours spent exploring the shores of Lake Champlain both as a child and an adult.

Linda studied fine art at the Ontario College of Art where she experienced the excitement of creating movement in landscape painting and the mystical feeling of capturing the likeness of a person portraiture. After spending 15 years as a commercial artist Linda decided to dedicate herself to painting subjects that move her. She has a keen eye for colour and detail and can  loosen the boundaries of both to create fresh, vibrant paintings with an underlying softness.

Abstract or non-representational painting challenges the artist, requiring both discernment and intuition. Each session in this intermediate level class will begin with a short introduction to a design element: line, tone, colour and texture. Participants will explore these elements on the painting surface in playful, experimental ways. No specific subject matter will be used. The goal will be to create a fresh, emotional response in painter and viewer alike. Note: not for beginner painters.
