SARP Welcomes John Biagi as New State Chair
SARP is pleased to welcome John Biagi, Chief of Fisheries Management for the Wildlife Resources Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GA DNR), as its new state chairman. John has been involved with SARP since he became Chief of Fisheries in Georgia in 2007. During that time he has been a steadfast supporter and steering committee member. He has attended nearly every meeting, participated in work groups, and led the development and implementation of successful and innovative habitat projects in Georgia that address the objectives of the Southeast Aquatic Habitat Plan (SAHP). Under his leadership Georgia DNR has engaged in SARP in a consistent and effective manner. John will serve as co-chair along with Allan Brown, who is the current SARP federal agency chair.
In this role, John replaces Tim Birdsong, Chief of Habitat Conservation Inland Fisheries Division, at Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Tim has served on the SARP Steering Committee for eight years, and as state chair for the past three years. During this time, he has made many valuable contributions that have furthered SARP's goals and conservation efforts. He has been integral to the success of the Native Black Bass Initiative and conservation efforts focused on the Guadalupe Bass, the Texas state fish as well as serving as a SARP ambassador by carrying the SARP message in all of his conservation work. We thank him for his years of dedicated service and wish him continued future success!
