Bringing Back the Brooks

Freshwaters Illustrated has recently released a series of inspiring short films that can be useful in your social networks, outreach, and teaching about freshwater biodiversity and conservation needs. Bringing Back the Brooks - A Revival of the South's Trout is 9-minute film produced in Partnership with the US Forest Service on an encouraging effort to restore the Southern Appalachian Brook Trout to some of the restored waters of its historic range. This film serves as a poignant reminder of our native trout and the challenges that they face, as well as an example of how organizations and agencies are coming together to work on what can be restored. To learn more about Freshwaters Illustrated, contact Jeremy Monroe.

The Coastal Fish Habitat Partners produce a quarterly newsletter featuring coastal science resources, projects and more from around the nation. Click here to view the Spring 2015 newsletter.

Deepwater Horizon Project Tracker Goes Live!

The Gulf of Mexico Alliance has been working on a Deepwater Horizon Project Tracker with The Trust for Public Land and Ducks Unlimited. The website, which launched on April 20th, provides the first comprehensive guide that maps all the funded oil spill restoration projects related to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Noreen Clough Memorial Scholarship Web Page

The Black Bass Conservation Committee (BBCC) in partnership with the Noreen Clough Memorial Scholarship organizing committee have now launched a website describing the Noreen Clough Memorial Scholarship and is accepting contributions. The BBCC will handle the administration of the donated funds and scholarship distributions for the immediate future through the existing BBCC account under SDAFS.  We hope to raise enough support to move that money into an investment account and let the scholarship program be funded annually as an endowment.

We encourage you to please feel free to share the link to the website  with anyone you think might be interested in supporting this scholarship program. The BBCC is a joint affiliate of the Southern Division and SARP. Contributions to the scholarship fund are tax deductible. The website will be updated with information about the scholarship application and selection processes as that information is developed. For more information, contact Gene Gilliland.
