INCOMPAS Offers Support to
T-Mobile's "Binge On" Service
On June 3, INCOMPAS sent a letter to the FCC in support of the T-Mobile "Binge On" service, which it noted is innovative, competitive and in line with Open Internet policies the association has championed. The "Binge On" service enables users to stream unlimited video for free, from services like YouTube, Netflix, HBO NOW and other sites, without using data from their plan. INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering, a former Republican Member of Congress from Mississippi who co-authored the very first net neutrality legislation in Congress, found that after careful review, "Binge On" encourages users to try out new wireless and video services. "T-Mobile is the mad scientist of competition, willing to experiment, take risks and smash a few beakers. Mobile customers benefit from such competition, as it brings fresh ideas, investment and innovation like ' Binge On' to the mobile broadband and video markets," Pickering said.
The letter notes that "INCOMPAS believes that 'Binge On' supports and promotes your overriding policy objective-the promotion of competition-in the mobile broadband marketplace and the video marketplace as it allows consumers to explore more over-the-top video options on the go."
