INCOMPAS Policy Summit to Feature Panel Discussions with Key Industry, Government Leaders

The INCOMPAS 2016 Policy Summit - February 10 in Washington, D.C. - is the place where you can connect with communications and technology leaders and key officials from the FCC and Capitol Hill.

  • Streaming Content: The Competition Catalyst - Cable companies are facing a tremendous amount of pressure from streaming websites, such as Netflix and Amazon, as these innovative companies are transforming the traditional television business model.   • The Stories Behind the Drafting of the 1996 Telecommunications Act - This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the 1996 Telecom Act, which ushered in unprecedented economic growth and innovation. During this panel, you'll hear from key staffers involved in the drafting of the Act. Colin Crowell, former staff to then-Ranking Member of the House Telecom Subcommittee Ed Markey and now Vice President of Global Public Policy at Twitter; Katie King, former Counsel to then-Chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee Larry Pressler and now Special Counsel at FCC; Jim Kohlenberger, former White House staffer to Vice President Gore and now President of JK Strategies;  Mike Regan, former Senior Counsel to House Energy and Commerce Chairman Tom Bliley and now Executive Vice President of Government Relations for 21st Century Fox; and John Windhausen, former Senior Counsel to then Ranking Member of the Senate Commerce Committee Fritz Hollings and now an independent legal and policy consultant. The panel will be moderated by Chip Pickering, CEO of INCOMPAS. Panelists will focus on the process that led to the adoption of the 1996 Telecommunications Act and its subsequent impact, and discuss how Republicans and Democrats compromised during the process.

LNPA Transition Webcast Set for 
Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 3 p.m. ET
On Wednesday, January 27, the second Local Number Portability Administrator (LNPA) Transition Outreach and Education Plan (TOEP) webcast will take place from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET. It will be hosted by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, LLP, the transition oversight manager for the LNPA transition.

The first TOEP webcast was held on December 9, 2015. The webcasts are one of many methods used to keep interested parties informed about the upcoming LNPA transition. Interested parties may register online for the January 27 webcast.
