INCOMPAS Files FCC Comments in Support of Tech Transitions
On October 27, INCOMPAS filed comments with the FCC in support of measures to facilitate effective implementation of the landmark Tech Transitions Order passed in August by the Commission.

"With the Tech Transitions Order, Chairman Tom Wheeler and the FCC put innovation and competition on a bullet train to the future. It serves to preserve and protect bipartisan competition policy for future networks, while speeding the development and deployment of advanced technology," said INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering. "That is a win for consumers and business customers who want more choices and affordable options in the marketplace. We applaud the FCC for listening to the hundreds of businesses and thousands of consumers who raised their voice on this important issue."
FCC Announces Tentative Agenda for November 19 Meeting
The FCC announced the tentative agenda for its November Open Meeting:
  • Wireless Emergency Alerts: The Commission will consider a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) that would improve the effectiveness of WEA message content and the geographic targeting of  WEA messages, and facilitate WEA testing and proficiency training.
  • Hearing Aid Compatibility: The Commission will consider a Report and Order and NPRM that would update the scope of the wireless hearing aid compatibility rules and seek comment on additional measures that would ensure greater deployment of hearing aid compatible wireless handselts.
  • Accessibility of User Interfaces: The Commission will consider a Second Report and Order, Order on Reconsideration, and Second FNPRM to provide consumers with better information about the availability of accessible devices and features and create easier access to video programming and closed captioning on devices.
The meeting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 19, at FCC headquarters in Washington, D.C.
INCOMPAS Supports Rosenworcel Renomination
On October 28, the U.S. Senate Commerce, Science & Transportation Committee held a hearing regarding the nomination of FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel to serve an additional five-year term at the Commission.

"There are few leaders in Washington who possess the poise, wisdom and vision of Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel. She is firmly focused on the future of education and the networks that will help bring the Internet to children and families across the nation," INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering said in a statement. "From E-Rate to the Open Internet and Tech Transitions, Jessica has positioned herself as a thoughtful, productive leader on the Commission, fighting for improved broadband speeds and affordable access at every turn.
