AT THE FCC
FCC to Host Workshop on Broadband Consumer Privacy
On Tuesday, April 28, the FCC's Wireline Competition and Consumer & Governmental Affairs Bureaus will hold a public workshop to explore the Commission's role in protecting the privacy of consumers that use broadband Internet access service. The staff-led workshop will provide an opportunity for diverse stakeholders to explore a range of 
matters associated with the application of statutory privacy protections to broadband Internet access service. Participants also will have the opportunity to address whether and to what extent the Commission can apply a harmonized privacy framework across various services within the Commission's jurisdiction.

Members of the public are invited to attend the workshop. It will begin at 10 a.m. at FCC headquarters in Washington, D.C. The Commission also will provide audio and video coverage of the discussion online at www.fcc.gov/live.

FCC Releases NPRM on Outage Reporting Rules
On March 30, the FCC released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) requesting comment on updates and improvements to the FCC's outage reporting rules. COMPTEL will keep members posted on the comment and reply comment dates once the NPRM is published in the Federal Register.

D.C. Circuit Selected to Hear
Appeals of Open Internet Order
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District Columbia Circuit was randomly selected to hear petitions for review of the FCC's Open Internet Order that were filed in two different circuits.  The cases will be consolidated and the record is to be filed in the D.C. Circuit pursuant to Rules 16 and 17 of the Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure.
