COMPTEL to Host Competition and Innovation Policy Summit on February 24 at Newseum in D.C.
On Tuesday, February 24, COMPTEL will host the Competition and Innovation Policy Summit, a signature event showcasing decades of pro-competitive policies that have ushered in unprecedented growth and innovation in the technology economy. 

The event, which takes place the same month that the Telecommunications Act was signed in 1996, will feature discussions about issues and policies of interest to telecommunications stakeholders today.

Taking place at the Newseum, this Summit offers a special opportunity for communications and technology leaders to connect in Washington, D.C. The Summit will feature a keynote address and panels on hot topics, such as: 
  • Open Internet: What's at Stake? 
  • View from the 8th Floor: The State of Wireline Communications Today 
  • Congressional Outlook for 2015: Communications Act Update & More 
  • Industry Leader Roundtable: Competition, Innovation and Deployment 
  • Pending Mergers: Outlook and Implications

AT THE FCC
FCC Announces January Open Meeting Agenda
Last week the FCC announced the items it expects to be on the agenda for its January open meeting: 
  • Location Accuracy for Emergency Calls: The Commission will consider a Report and Order to ensure that accurate caller location information is automatically provided to public safety officials for all wireless calls to 911, including for indoor calls, to meet consumer and public safety needs and expectations, and to take advantage of new technological developments. 
  • Presentation on New Consumer Help Center: The Commission will hear a presentation on the new Consumer Help Center that provides an easier-to-use, more consumer-friendly portal for filing and monitoring informal consumer complaints, as well as accessing educational materials. 
The open meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 29, at 10:30 a.m. ET at FCC headquarters in Washington, D.C. The event also will be shown live at FCC.gov/live.
COMPTEL PLUS
Golf Tourney Scheduled April 12 at Celebration Club
The COMPTEL PLUS Spring 2015 Golf Tournament will tee off Sunday, April 12, 2015, at the Celebration Golf Club, a highly rated Orlando course that offers players challenges, such as strategic hazards and difficult greens, throughout a picturesque setting. 

The course has received a number of accolades: 
  • Ranked as one of the "Top 25 Public Courses" in Golf World's Readers' Choice Awards 
  • Rated 4 ½ Stars and one of the Top 200 in North America for Service & Course Conditioning by Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play" 
  • Ranked as one of the Top 25 Best Family Golf Resorts by Golf Digest Magazine 
  • Host Site of the Drive, Chip & Putt National Championships, which is nationally televised on the Golf Channel
Prizes will be awarded for Closest to the Pin (Men's and Women's), Men's Longest Drive, Women's Longest Drive and First- and Second-Place Teams.

You must be registered for the COMPTEL PLUS Business Expo 2015 to participate in this tournament. Golf registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis. $165 per person. The entry fee includes greens fees and cart, coffee and breakfast, lunch and prizes. If you need to rent clubs for the tournament, they are available for $40.

COMPTEL has been advised that individuals and companies unaffiliated with COMPTEL have been contacting attendees and potential attendees, falsely telling them that the Gaylord Palms is booked during the period of the COMPTEL PLUS Spring 2015 conference, and demanding credit card information to book accommodations at alternative hotels. 

COMPTEL does not use third-party travel agencies or hotel booking services. If you receive a call or other communication from one of these individuals or companies, we strongly advise you NOT to provide any credit card or other business or personal information to them. All reservations and bookings for the COMPTEL PLUS Spring 2015 conference should be made directly with the Gaylord Palms.
