As you may know, NARUC's Annual Meeting is scheduled to take place November 16-19, 2014.  COMPTEL will be hosting a Competitors' Reception on Saturday, November 15, at the San Francisco Marriott and is seeking sponsors. Please note that the Competitors' Reception is not sponsored by NARUC nor is it a part of the Annual Meeting agenda.

COMPTEL Welcomes Amanda Catanoso 
Join us in welcoming Amanda Catanoso to COMPTEL. She is our new executive assistant/scheduler.

A recent graduate of Catholic University with a B.A. in French Language and Literature, Amanda most recently served as an analyst intern at the Bureau of Industry and Security in the U.S. Department of Commerce's Office of Technology Evaluation. She also has worked as an intern in the office of Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ), a translating intern for Columbus Community Law Services at Catholic University, a teaching intern at the Institute of European Studies and a tutor at Catholic University's Center for Academic Success.

FCC Opens Rural Broadband Experiments Application Filing Window on October 23, Deadline November 15
The FCC's Wireline Competition Bureau announced that the application filing window for entities interested in participating in the rural broadband experiments will open on Thursday, October 23 at 9 a.m. ET. 

Applicants must complete and submit FCC Form 5610 to participate in the rural broadband experiments. As part of Form 5610, applicants must attach a dedicated bid form for each proposed project, a single descriptive data form listing all of their proposed projects and certain project information.

A link to Form 5610 will be available on October 23. Applicants will have until Friday, November 7 at 6 p.m. ET to submit Form 5610. Applicants are reminded that the application filing deadline is a firm deadline and are encouraged to file as early as possible to ensure that they have ample time to correct any errors that may occur with their application.

FCC Releases Special Access Data Request FAQ
On October 14, the FCC released a list of non-technical frequently asked questions regarding the special access data collection. These FAQs should not be considered a substitute for carefully reviewing the data collection questions and instructions. All technical questions concerning the Special Access Web Portal should be directed to FCC Support at 877-480-3201 or submitted via e-support
