Travelocity.com Founder Terry Jones to Deliver Keynote Address at COMPTEL PLUS Spring 2013
Remarks to Focus on the Business of Innovation and Redesigning Customer Processes for the Digital Age
 Innovation expert Terry Jones, founder and former CEO of Travelocity.com, chairman of Kayak.com and a former EarthLink board member, will deliver the keynote address during the COMPTEL PLUS Spring 2013 Convention & EXPO, March 10-13 at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
With a proven track record of leading companies - including Kayak.com, Sabre Inc. and Travelocity.com - whose innovations have changed an industry, Jones is widely sought out for his insights on the business of innovation, leadership, marketing and e-commerce. In his keynote at COMPTEL PLUS, Jones will explore the fundamentals of innovation and strategies for building valuable digital relationships. His speech will include real world examples, drawn from his experience at Travelocity.com, serving on the boards of seven startups and his consulting work.
"Innovation and building digital relationships are two critical components to success in today's fast-moving, hyper-competitive marketplace," Jones said in a press release. "At COMPTEL PLUS, I will share with attendees the tools and techniques needed to discover where the best ideas originate in their companies, how to create a culture of innovation and what the stages of digital relationships are, so they can redesign their customer processes for the digital age."
The COMPTEL PLUS keynote address will take place during the opening session on Monday, March 11 at 9:30 a.m. Following his keynote presentation, Jones will be available to sign "ON Innovation." FCC to Host Field Hearings on Superstorm Sandy
In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, Federal Communications Chairman Julius Genachowski announced plans to convene a series of field hearings to examine challenges to the nation's communications networks during natural disasters and in other times of crisis. The first hearing will facilitate a wider national dialogue about the resiliency of communications networks by focusing on the impact of Superstorm Sandy, and help inform recommendations and actions to strengthen wired and wireless networks in the face of such large-scale emergencies.
The first field hearings are scheduled for Tuesday, February 5. The morning hearing will take place in Manhattan, with an afternoon hearing in Hoboken, N.J. For more details, visit the FCC website.

COMPTEL members who are not exhibitors or sponsors at the COMPTEL PLUS Spring show are invited to submit their news, which will be published on a space-available basis. The Show Daily editorial staff makes every effort to include all news sent to them by the editorial deadline (March 1).

COMPTEL Seeks Nominations for Board of Directors
Nomination Deadline is Noon ET, February 1
On January 25, COMPTEL will begin accepting nominations for candidates for the Board of Directors. Elections will be held for five Directors in the Small Member category (annual revenues under $25 million), four Directors in the Medium Member category ($25-$300 million in revenue), and five Directors in the Large Member category (revenue above $300 million).
How to Nominate
- Companies may nominate themselves or other member companies within their Membership voting category to be candidates.
- All nominations should indicate the company and the name of the company representative who will hold the company's seat on the Board.
- All nominations should be e-mailed to COMPTEL CEO Jerry James as soon as possible, but no later than noon E.S.T., Friday February 1, 2013.
- Board Nominees are invited to submit a brief biography and a short (no more than 150 words) statement indicating why he/she is interested in serving on the Board. COMPTEL will post this information on the Members Only web page. Bios should be e-mailed to Mary Albert, COMPTEL's Assistant General Counsel.
Ballots will be distributed on February 8. COMPTEL will hold its annual Board elections during the COMPTEL PLUS Spring 2013 Convention & EXPO, which is taking place March 10-13 at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Elections will take place immediately following the COMPTEL Annual Meeting of the Membership, which is scheduled for Monday, March 11, at 3:30 p.m. in Pinyon Ballroom 1 at the Aria. For those who cannot attend in person, absentee ballots are due March 1. Each voting member company is entitled to cast one vote. We encourage all voting members to participate in the election. We also encourage any interested voting Member company to run for a seat on the Board of Directors. Please note that Member dues must be paid prior to the election in order for a company to be eligible to vote and/or run for a seat on the Board.
