STUDENTS and PARENTS come to the Homecoming BBQ Thursday, October 22 - a bargain at only $5 for a hot dog, burger or veggie burger with all the fixings, chips, brownie and a drink. Buy advance tickets at the SAC. Sponsored by the PTSA, we'll be serving from 6:00-7:30 PM in the courtyard between the pool and the Titan Gym for hungry students, families, Float Stuffers and Airbands participants.
 
PARENTS this is another opportunity for you to demonstrate that Gunn hospitality is TITAN STRONG.  Bakers, grill meisters, ticket takers, servers, sweepers and cleaners -- we need your help. Register Now for Mock SAT/ACT Tests at Gunn  
A Mock Test is a great way to get comfortable with the SAT/ACT Testing process. To register, go to http://www.gunn.pausd.org/academic-center and scroll down to the last option on left column: Mock SAT/ACT Sign Up. Mock tests and dates:
  • Mock SAT/ACT Combo on Saturday, October 17, 2015, from 9 AM to1:30 PM in the library. Result TBA.
  • Mock New SAT on Saturday, January 16, 2016, from 9 AM to 1:30 PM in the library. Result TBA.
  • Mock ACT on Saturday, February 20, 2016, from 9 AM to 1:30 PM in the library. Result will be emailed by March 5.
  • Mock NEW Redesigned SAT on Saturday, April 16, 2016, from 9 AM to 1:30 PM in the library. Result will be emailed by April 30.

Deadline: October 25 
The email address you provided when you registered with PAUSD will give you access to the Gunn PTSA eDirectory https://gunn.tangledir.com/. Refer to the October 7 email via Infinite Campus for additional login instructions. You have until October 25 to update any household data that will also go into the printed directory and ensure both versions of the directory contain the information you want included (such as nicknames, phone numbers, new addresses) or remove any information you do NOT want shared publicly. For questions, contact [email protected].

Creative Writing Classes Need Volunteer
Help is needed to work on the classes' online magazine. May simply post student stories. And/or also redesign the online magazine. Contact Norma Hesterman at [email protected].

Try Gunn Wrestling
Interested in having your child try out a new, no-cut sport where everyone is welcome? Interested in having your child obtain personalized instruction while getting into shape with a handful of experienced, dedicated professional coaches, including a former Stanford and Olympic athlete and coach? Then please tell your children that Gunn wrestling pre-season practices are underway in the wrestling room, every weekday from 4-5:15 PM. Pre-season is a great time to figure out if this is something they would like to pursue as there is no commitment and they can drop in whenever they are able. Girls and boys are welcome.

Staff Appreciation Korean Lunch Thank You
Thank Su-Dam Korean Cuisine and Tofu House for generously donating food. Unity Day 2015: When We Stand Together, No One Stands Alone

SAFE Silicon Valley - Student Support Meeting

October Palo Alto High School Choirs Concerts

The 75-voice Palo Alto High School Concert Choir will sing this Sunday at Stanford Memorial Church. A reflective, contemplative 30-minute set of choral music will be set in the tranquil candlelit ambiance of Memorial Church. All are welcome.

Palo Alto High School Choral Program presents "Gems", a Fall Concert featuring classic choral repertoire from J.S. Bach, Randall Thompson, William Byrd, Claudio Monteverdi and more. The award-winning Paly Concert Choir will be joined by our Madrigal Singers, Spectrum Singers, Beginning Choir, Men's Chorus, and a cappella groups. Tickets at the door - $10 adults, $5 students and seniors, children under 12 free.

Domestic Violence: It Couldn't Happen Here, Could It?

Seven expert panelists moderated by Major Karen Holman will discuss the psychological, legal, cultural and economic challenges facing domestic violence victims in Palo Alto, along with local resources available to assist them. Mitchell Park Library November/December Events
International Games Days

Mitchell Park Library and Community Center have teamed up together to give teens two days to celebrate International Games Day. Play or compete for prizes on console gaming systems, online gaming, air hockey, card games, board games, and more. Refreshments provided.
 
Finals Cram Slam
Mon, Dec 14, and Tue, Dec 15, 6-10 PM, Mitchell Park Library
Mitchell Park Library will be extending its hours for finals week. You can study in the teen room or just drop in for snacks and emotional support. There will be a calming therapy dog you can pet to help you decompress before the chaos begins. Open to high school students who are studying for finals. Refreshments provided.

  • Please submit ANNOUNCEMENTS ONLY to the Gunn Connection at [email protected]. Only announcements specific to the Gunn community will be published. Any other announcements from outside the Gunn community must first be submitted for review to the PTA eNews ([email protected]), which will then distribute it to the relevant schools in the district.
  • Announcements will be limited to 100 words or less. Any lengthier or more in-depth articles or news should be submitted to the Gunn Connection Extra ([email protected]).
  • Announcements will be published in two consecutive issues. To have further announcements made after that, please submit your announcement again.
  • Please use the words "Gunn Connection" in the subject line. Items should include a title, the date, time and location of the event, and a brief (100 words or less) description of the activity. List email, contact information and web links at the end. Content should be in the body of your email as unformatted text. Attachments subject to approval by the editors.
