Message from Our President, Sandra James

Sandra Black and White Standing

Summer is here! We have arrived in the warmest of the four seasons, where the days are the longest and the nights are the shortest. For some, it is a time to relax and take a break or a well deserved vacation, but for many, it's the perfect time to look for a job. Students may be looking for a temporary gig or summer internship, while new graduates may be looking for an entry level position to jump start their careers. A background check is basically used to determine whether applicants are telling the truth about their pasts, and with candidates who have little to no work history and minimal references, it becomes imperative to confirm other things such as degrees earned and grades.

You can get more information below on performing background checks on summer interns, smart ways to enhance workplace safety, and you can read about helpful tips on conducting pre-screening interviews.

Certain laws have been passed in favor of interns, instructing employers to pay them. As a result, this might bring down the number of internship programs in future. Nevertheless, companies will continue to hire summer interns for the apparent benefits.

A Quick Guide to Conducting Pre-Screening Interviews

With competition getting fierce, it has become imperative for the companies to stay ahead of the curve by hiring smart and self-motivated individuals who can drive business growth. In the recent times, conducting applicants' pre-screening interview has emerged as a cost-effective hiring tool that bolsters the selection process and adds value to it.

Generally, pre-screening interview is conducted by hiring managers to assess and evaluate the applicant's calibre for the job profile. The job seeker's answers to the pre-screening questions help hiring managers to funnel down to the most qualified candidates who fit seamlessly within the company's hiring criteria. Thus, the role of pre-screening is not as much to rope in the right people as to to filter out the wrong ones.
