Message from Our President, Sandra James

This month we are recognizing safety and social awareness with two important spotlights. First, being prepared for emergencies is something everyone should think about, you not only help yourself but you help others by being informed and ready to react. Secondly, giving back to your community and helping others is something everyone should experience. It not only humbles you but brings a sense of community so many of us often lose as we go through the motions of our own lives. We make this commitment to our community by continually donating a percentage of profits from 4506-Transcripts.com to the American Cancer Society.
So with the onset of fall we ask that you take some time and give back; don't wait for the traditional reminders in the coming months of being thankful and giving back to others. Below we have spotlighted two great Women Owned Businesses that are already making waves in these areas.

Don't forget to have a happy and safe Halloween!

Are You Prepared For All Phases Of An Emergency?
|
Cardiac arrest, diabetic emergency, fire, natural disaster, earthquake, bleeding or workplace injury are emergencies many of us are prepared for. But, what happens when the emergency you prepared for- 'Scope Creeps' into another phase of an emergency? What happens when a cardiac arrest victim needs an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) or if the workplace AED 'shocks' the patient and the patient re-gains consciousness?
What happens when a natural disaster strikes the workplace, you evacuate your building and you are waiting in the assembly area only to discover a major highway or bridge is down and employees cannot make it out of the city? Or your employee-volunteer Emergency Response Team cannot respond to a workplace injury in the Sales/Marketing Department because it 7:05 pm and those volunteers have left for the day. There is a safety solution for all of these scenarios.
You can discover easy and proven methods to increase and help guarantee your company's effectiveness in responding to What's Next in strategic safety response process. We would love to talk more about developing you company's emergency response 'What's Next' certification. You'll love the feeling of being prepared for What's Next! Ice Safety Solutions is offering complimentary What's Next Site Assessments until December 1, 2013.

10 Must-Read Inspiring Articles On Lessons Learned In Business
|
Each person contains within them the necessary skills for success; naturally along the way you learn a thing or two. Not to mention starting and running a business is chock-full of lessons worthy of passing along so others might learn from your experiences. Following the trends of LinkedIn's, "How I
Hire" series we would like to share the insights of Jack Welch, Founder of Jack Welch Management Institute at Strayer University.
"Hiring? What a great problem to have. It can only mean your organization is growing, which is terrific, or that you've got an existing position you can now fill with an even bigger dose of talent than before. Either way, congratulations. Why aren't you smiling? Well, probably because you know from experience that hiring is about as hard to get right as it is critical to your company's success.
Fortunately, hiring isn't a black box of gut and luck, although it can sometimes feel that way, like when your home-run candidate turns out to be a wash out by Day 30 on the job. Rather, hiring is a discipline which improves with time and practice. Or put more precisely, we've found that hiring improves with time and practice if you deploy a very specific (and truth be told, pretty unbending) qualifications check-list. The check-list itself is short. It contains two flat-out must-haves, five qualities that are definitely-should-haves, and one very special quality that, while not exactly commonplace, is a total game-changer."
