Hi Everyone

How are you enjoying the beginning of Fall?  Do you feel energized, or more contemplative?  We all have our own individual connection with the changing of the Seasons.

Even though we don't have a 'full on' Autumn here in the High desert, I still feel the desire to slow down and take the time to enjoy my own rhythm.  I love to check in with myself and see what needs attention before the year ends.  I also pour over my astrological transits for the next year and contemplate how I might optimize the attributes of certain transiting planets.  Sometimes I ask a planet how how I can most align with its positive energetic vibration and expression, and then pull a few Tarot cards, to give me further insights.  It's so much fun playing in the cosmos!

Thanks for checking in this month.  I hope you enjoy the November newsletter....and Happy Fall!

Relationship Compatibility

For many of us, if not the majority, relationships are a vehicle for personal growth.  We learn how to get along with others, how to give of ourselves and and for a time, that sacrifice may be  necessary in enduring relationships.  It's also nice to experience the familiarity and affection which can be present in long lasting relationships.  It's also true that most of us have at some point,  experienced being in relationships which do not serve us, do not nurture us, but for different reasons, are difficult to step out of.

There are a number of ways the natal chart reveals the role of relationships in our lives.  The most obvious is when we have planets in the 7th house (one on one relationships) or 11th house (friendships and affiliations with groups), or when there is 'activity' from others planets to the Moon and Venus in our own chart, positive and/or challenging.    It's when we put our charts together with another person, (or pet) that the lights begin to go off -  in other words, the connections start to come into focus.  When learning astrology, this seems to be a favorite pastime - getting out each of the family member's charts and comparing them.

Some of the most pronounced compatibility influences are:

1.  For good emotional rapport and a happy home life
,  a Sun-Moon, Moon-Venus conjunction, or a when the other person's Moon or Venus are conjunct our Ascendant or Descendant.

2.  The Moon's Nodes:

The South and North Nodes of the Moon represent life lessons.

The South Node represents life experiences and talents already developed.  Being more 'lunar' in nature, the attributes of our South Node bring emotional comfort and familiarity.

The North Node represents lessons and new growth which need to be incorporated and demonstrated in this lifetime, which can offer self-fulfillment, confidence and maturity, but which also stretch us.

South Node:  When someone has personal planets (Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars) or the 'karmic' planet, Saturn, conjunct our South Node, this is an indication that we have had a close relationship with that person in a previous life or lives.  This is usually related to family type relationship.  That person usually demonstrates a strong interest in our life and well being, however, in their desire to be of help, may prevent us from moving forward to embrace the qualities associated with our North Node.

North Node:  When someone has personal planets or Saturn, conjunct our North Node, they tend to embody and demonstrate the very qualities and demeanor we are seeking to experience and establish, in keeping with the drive to embody the qualities of our North Node.

When someone has the outer planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) conjunct our North Node, they can act as an 'awakening force' to propel us toward new experience which expands and transforms our outlook on life.  This can also happen through public figures.

3.  Jupiter-Saturn conjunction:  When I was living in India in the early 80's, I began to notice this conjunction in the charts of people who had an exceptionally strong rapport with one another over many years.  I couldn't find any material about this in astrology books, so I began to contemplate it and observe it.  I came to understand that when this placement is present between two people, the souls have come together numerous times during different lifetimes because of the potential for growth (of the soul).  It's like the souls have made a request to re-connect in the current life time.  The relationship is always positive.  The person with Jupiter, is usually in a position to be the most supportive in  the current life.

Two examples of public figures who have the Jupiter-Saturn  conjunction are 1) Leo DiCaprio (Saturn) and Martin Scorsese (Jupiter)   and   2) Steven Spielberg (Jupiter) and Tom Hanks (Saturn).

I also had this conjunction with my father, whom I was very close with, with my husband, Joseph and two others in my life.  Having experienced this first hand, I would say there's a natural familiarity, an ease, that is present in the relationship.

4.  The guideline below is designed to give a very general sense of compatibility by sign.  Astrology is comprehensive, so there are always exceptions.

Aries:   Gets along with all the fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) and with Aquarius and Gemini.  Not as well with Virgo and Scorpio.

Taurus:  Gets along with all the earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) and with Pisces and Cancers.  Not as well with Sagittarius and Libra.

Gemini:  Gets along with all the Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) and with Aries and Leo.  Not as well with Scorpio and Capricorn.

Cancer:  Gets along with all the Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio,  Pisces) and with Taurus and Virgo.  Not as well with Sagittarius and Aquarius.

Leo:  Gets along with all the Fire Signs (Leo, Sagittarius, Aries) and with Gemini and Libra.  Not as well with Capricorn and Pisces.

Virgo:  Gets along with all the Earth Signs (Virgo, Capricorn,  Taurus) and with Cancer and Scorpio.  Not as well with Aquarius and Aries.

Libra:  Gets along with all the Air signs (Libra, Aquarius, Gemini) and with Leo and Sagittarius.  Not as well with Pisces and Taurus.

Scorpio:   Gets along with all the Water signs (Scorpio, Pisces,  Cancer) and with Virgo and Capricorn.  Not as well with Aries and Gemini.

Sagittarius:  Gets along with all the Fire signs (Sagittarius, Aries, Leo) and with Libra and Aquarius.  Not as well with Taurus and Cancer.

Capricorn:  Gets along with all the Earth signs (Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo) and with Scorpio and Pisces.  Not as well with Gemini and Leo.

Aquarius:  Gets along with all the Air signs (Aquarius, Gemini, Libra) and Sagittarius and Aries.  Not as well with Cancer and Virgo.

Pisces:  Gets along with all the Water signs (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio) and Capricorn and Taurus.  Not as well with Leo and Libra.

Know which Planets

are active in your Chart

in 2016 !

As noted at the beginning of the newsletter, I enjoy becoming acquainted with the astrological transits in my own chart before the New Year begins.  Being  'contemplative' by nature, I like to get a handle on the purpose of the transits, how I might utilize their energy for personal growth, what the specific planets are asking of me, and when I know they're likely to be challenging, set up support systems for myself.

Here are some general tips as to how to prepare for certain transits:

Jupiter
Jupiter influences encourage growth and expansion, creating and pursuing positive intentions and having faith in ourselves and our own vision.   The planet of good fortune, benevolence, generosity of spirit, international affairs and travel.

We may be called to deepen our philosophical understanding and wisdom through study, strive to stand in our own greatness and align more fully with our purpose.

When we have challenging Jupiter aspects, we may feel a lack of perspective, over commit ourselves, be overly confidence, optimistic and excessive, be swayed by magical thinking, and lose sight of the practical details of our lives.

Saturn
Like Jupiter, Saturn is also connected with wisdom, but it is wisdom earned from our own efforts.  Saturn helps us overcome self-doubt,
by establishing building blocks which support
our growth and confidence in ourselves.  We
develop patience and perseverance and
steadiness of purpose.  It also assists us in
becoming 'grounded'
in handling the practical concerns of life through creating structure, attention to detail, follow through, a good work ethic and by embracing that which we're responsible for.

When we have challenging Saturn aspects, it helps to become clear on what Saturn is trying to teach us.  We may experience limitations, restrictions, obstacles and delays, for a time, and feel weighted down by the 'density' of Saturn's energy.

Symbol for Uranus
Uranus
Uranus ushers in a desire for new experience, progressive ideas which mentally and intuitively stimulate us.  We want to break away from, break down, or break through our own limited concepts and current way of life.  In doing so,
we may temporarily need to break away from the influence of more traditional values, so we can let our hair down, focus on our
individual expression and exert a healthy dose of rebelliousness.  We strive for authenticity - to be our own person.

We may enter into new friendships, and/or seek
association with groups or movements which address our need to have a connection with like minded individuals.  When challenging Uranus influences come along, we tend to notice the 'electric' current like energy of this planet, in that things happen really fast - we're talking unpredictable and sometimes out of sync.  When we experience the 'kinky' side of Uranus, we may find ourselves involved in a series of fast moving events, which while they somehow create freedom for us, also have our head spinning.

Symbol for Neptune
Neptune
Neptune is the most otherworldly and watery
of the planets listed here, so Neptune transits can feel dreamy, illusive and visionary.  We may lack our usual motivation and worldly ambition, as our personal will takes a back seat, and we enter into the void.  Whether positive or challenging, Neptune transits can give the feeling of things dissolving, which we always thought of as tangible and permanent.

Being the most transcendental of the planets, Neptune transits can open our intuition, foster spiritual growth, create more of an interest in our inner lives, and create an interest in poetry, music and the arts.

Challenging Neptune transits can make it more difficult to have good emotional boundaries in place, practice discernment and keep our feet on the ground.  We may seek to 'escape' through indulgence in drugs and alcohol or rely too heavily on magical thinking, and lack the focus and discipline to take care of  the practical concerns in our life.

Symbol for Pluto
Pluto

Pluto, ruler of the sign of Scorpio, has an intense  vibe about it.  As a planet of power, energy and purpose, and as a positive transit targeting a personal planet in our natal chart, it can create tremendous one-pointed focus, determination
courage and ambition, to assist us in totally transforming the area of life associated with the natal planet.

Pluto doesn't work in half measures.  So when it's challenging a personal planet in our natal chart, it may strip away those stories, veneers and attachments our ego believes are essential to our identity. While it may go as far as to reduce some of our outer facades to ashes before its done, (it's known for creating experiences of power and powerlessness), it also helps us re-build our identity on more solid ground - connecting us with inner strength, resolve, resilience, and an overall stronger sense of Self.

Nov 1:  Puttering around, taking time with fun projects, is the way to go today.
(Cancer Moon sextiles Jupiter in Virgo (7:15 am) and sextiles Venus in Virgo (6:45 pm)

Nov 2:  There can be some temporary emotional resistance to 'changing' gears in our thinking this morning - not the best aspect for meetings.  Late afternoon brings clarity, focus and presence.  Early evening influence energize us toward being proactive.  This is great for giving presentations and conducting coaching sessions and the like, but we may be met with resistance, if we take it upon ourselves to give unsolicited advice.
(Leo Moon squares Mercury (Scorpio), exact at 9:00 am;  Leo Moon trines Saturn (Sagittarius), exact at 4:00 pm; The energy of the Venus-Mars conjunction in Virgo can be experienced all afternoon and evening, but it is exact at 5:00 pm)

Nov 3:  An early evening creative thinking influence brings clarity, presence and those sought after 'aha' moments.
(Leo Moon trines Uranus (Aries), exact at 5:45 pm)

Nov 6:  Meditative, intuitive influences are in place this morning, lending themselves to reflection and turning within. A very late night influence can make for a busy mental activity when we're trying to sleep.  This can be helped by reducing sensory input several hours before going to bed.
(Neptune (Pisces) trines Mercury (Scorpio), exact at 5:30 am; Moon conjuncts Jupiter (Virgo), at 6:00 am; Moon conjuncts Mars in Virgo just after midnight)

Nov 7:  A brief early morning influence lends itself to giving our attention to that which is calming, nurturing, and brings a sense of satisfaction.
(Moon-Venus conjunction in Virgo, at 4:45 am)

Nov 8:   Influences taking place mid morning and early evening can temporarily create fluctuations in our emotions.
(Libra Moon squares Pluto (Capricorn), at 10:30 am and squares Uranus (Aries), at 6:45 pm)

Nov 10The day begins with a penetrating mental influence, which is suited for research and sustained mental focus.  It also has a psychological component, which is good for self-analysis.  Mid morning brings forth an intuitive influence which is suited to  time alone and introspection.  A well balanced early evening influence helps us take stock of what we want to achieve.
(Mercury (Scorpio) sextiles Pluto (Capricorn), exact at 4:15 am; Scorpio Moon trines Neptune (Pisces), at 10:00 am; Sun in Scorpio sextiles Jupiter in Virgo, exact at 6:15 pm)

Nov 11:  New Moon in Scorpio - see Lunar Activity

(Mars enters Libra.  Sagittarius Moon sextiles Venus, exact at 4:30 pml  Moon conjunct Saturn in Sagittarius, at 5:45 pm)

Nov 13:  Penetrating influences this morning, can bring about creative breakthroughs.  By late afternoon, we're ready for an action plan.

(Venus in Libra squares Pluto in Capricorn, exact at 6:00 pm)

Nov 21:  Aries Moon likes action.  Don't be surprised if you have a spontaneous urge to get out and about this morning, to clear the air.  There's a brief influence late this afternoon, whereby we may fight to get our way, and can be angered by delays, but this falls into a more congenial, balanced experience by early evening.
(Aries Moon trines Mercury in Sagittarius, at 9:30 am; Moon opposes Mars (Libra) at 4:15 pm and trines Saturn (Sagittarius) at 6:00 pm)

Nov 22:  We may feel uncomfortable in our own skin this morning - and don't do well around others.  We just need to clear the air, be alone for awhile and claim our independence.  It's good to keep an eye on how we're expressing our 'will' for there's an accident prone influence late morning.
(Aries Moon squares Pluto Capricorn, at 6:00 am; Moon opposes Venus (Libra) at 9:00 am and conjuncts Uranus, at 11:15 am)

Nov 23:  Mid afternoon influence signifies the need to take a breather - breaking free from what we're focused on, taking a walk or energizing ourselves in some way, and coming back refreshed is the way to go.  Not a good influence for listening to the problems of others.
(Venus in Libra opposes Uranus in Aries, exact at 2:15 pm)

Nov 24 - 26:  There is much energy around the mind - analyzing situations, contemplating the best way forward, finding a balance between practical solutions, and idealistic thinking.

Nov 24:
(Saturn-Mercury conjunction in Sagittarius, exact at 9:00 pm; Mercury squares Neptune (Pisces), exact at 11:15 pm)

Nov 25:  Full Moon in Gemini.  See Lunar Activity.

Nov 26:  We won't run out of subjects to discuss around the table today.  A chatty Gemini Moon connects with Jupiter and Venus - making for good social aspects!

thanksgiving-cooking-bnr.jpg

Nov 28-29:  This weekend carries some challenging emotional influences.  We can feel 'moody' and out of sorts with ourselves and our circumstances.

We're not in the mood for airline delays, traffic jams and other type activity sometimes associated with travel around this holiday.  So if you are traveling, have some great music or audio books to listen to, or a great novel.

Nov 28:  Cancer Moon squares Mars (Libra) at 3:30 am, opposes Pluto (Capricorn) at 11:45 am and squares Uranus (Aries) at 5:00 pm)

Nov 29:  Sagittarius Sun squares Neptune (Pisces), exact at 7:00 am; Sun conjunct Saturn in Sagittarius, exact at 4:15 pm)

Nov 30:  Positive influences help us connect and embrace this new week.
(Leo Moon trines Saturn (Sagittarius), at 6:45 am; Moon sextiles Mars (Libra) at 12:45 pm; Moon trines Mercury (Sagittarius) at 11:45 pm)

New Moon

Nov 11:        19 deg   Scorpio           9:47  am    PST

This New Moon in Scorpio is perfect for emotional release and strengthening our relationship with the Divine.

The Indian New Year - Diwali (festival of lights) takes place on this date, in which the Goddess of spiritual and material prosperity, Lakshmi, is honored and worshipped.  This holiday symbolizes the victory of righteousness and the lifting of spiritual darkness.  It is customary to light candles all over the home, give generously of oneself and wear something new.

Full Moon

Nov 25:         3 deg  Gemini              2:44 pm        PST

There is a combination of 'fixed' and 'scattered' mental energies around this Full Moon.  How to zero in on having a focused,  meaningful conversation when there's likely to be distraction going on at every opportunity?  How to pull people together to join in on an activity, when everyone's attention is elsewhere.

Gemini is a 'mutable' or changeable sign, so we just may need to let go, and let things unfold as they will.
