August 26, 2015

Hello Everyone:

I'm sure that in many locations in the U.S., it doesn't quite feel like Fall yet, given the unusual weather patterns of the Summer.  Here in the high desert of Arizona, we've had a good 'monsoon' season, which makes for lots of greenery, flowing rivers, interesting looking skies, and much appreciated cooler temperatures.

Many people have asked me if I can send out the newsletter a little earlier than the 1st of the month, so they can read the 'astro tips' to help them plan their week or month.  I'm doing my best to make that happen.

Don't be surprised if you feel a little 'spacey' as we head toward the Full Moon in Pisces this Saturday.  In fact, this word could end up being a signature word for the entire upcoming month, given the Jupiter-Neptune opposition taking place. (See article 'Action & Passivity' below.

I wish you a happy transition into Fall, and a fun Labor Day weekend.

love,
Margaret

Saturn 29 - 30 degrees

of Scorpio

Power ~ Money ~ Fear

When a planet is situated at 29 degrees, moving toward  30 degrees, the astrological term is known as the 'Anaretic' degree.  This is taking place in Mid August through mid September of 2015, with Saturn in the sign of Scorpio.  This can often create much underlying emotional fluctuation.

In determining how we might be influenced by Saturn at 29 degrees of Scorpio, I'm also taking into account the energies associated with the 8th house (Scorpio's house), as well as the qualities associated with Mars and Pluto (rulers of the 8th house).

When putting it altogether, we could experience some of the following:

1)  Frustration and/or fear based thinking around power and money.  On a global level, this could create the jitters, and start a domino effect.
(Have you noticed how much fluctuation there is this past week in the financial markets?)

With regard to one's personal financial situation, this can increase emotional frustration, especially around the debt we carry, to whom we feel indebted, and how much we feel dependent upon and bound to that person (our source) for our financial well being.

2) We can feel overly cautious about a situation we are dealing with currently, may want to make a decision which free us up and allows us to move on, but at the same time cannot quite take the action (Saturn).   In the very next moment, we can feel we must break free (no matter what the cost), of that which burdens us, and we jump into action, with no real plan or practical awareness of the consequences (Mars).  We may feel that above all, we just need to 'take our power back' from an entangled situation with another or others, though we feel emotionally challenged by the thought. (Pluto).

3) Beside it's connection to shared financial resources, (wills, estates, inheritances, and taxes), the 8th house is also associated with death.

It may be that we have been involved in a situation recently which exposes us up close and personal to the experience of death.

The 8th house, it's ruler Pluto, and Saturn, can also be associated with the experience of a psychological death.  For those in the throes of an emotionally and psychologically difficult time, while possibly sensing the end of the tunnel is close at hand, the last stretch may feel overwhelming.

Because of the intense nature of the sign of Scorpio and its ruler, Pluto, our thoughts and feelings can become  urgent and amplified.  When this is the case, it's always wise to step back and strive to gain our equilibrium and perspective, before taking impulsive action.

Good Communication

is Key

This month, the planet of the mind and communication, Mercury, is moving through the sign of Libra.  Usually, the harmonious, collaborative, refined intellectual qualities of Libra, can add much to Mercury's expression.  However, Mercury is being challenged most of the month by the two power planets - Pluto and Uranus, as well as entering into a retrograde motion.

Mercury square Pluto (Capricorn)
Sept 4-28 and Oct 19-25         (exact Sept 9, 24 and Oct 22)

Mercury opposite Uranus (Aries)
Sept 13-22 and Oct 23-28      (exact Oct 25)

How might we experience this?

1.  We may feel rushed and/or pressured from external sources to be decisive, or we may be pressuring others to give a definitive response to our timely questions. This can lead to feeling defensive.

2.  The emotional influence from Pluto to Mercury, can indicate emotionally charged communication that carries a negative tone.  We can fall hostage to someones negative complaints.  When experiencing this within ourselves, it can take extra effort to stay positive in our thinking.

3.  The aggressive nature of Uranus opposing Mercury, can result in abrupt verbal statements, which carry an angry tone, or decisions made quickly, which appear to leave little, or no room open for discussion.  When the active 'dynamic' of this placement is taking place, it's not so easy to talk our way through situations with others.  It's usually more effective to agree to stop talking, and come back when both parties are more open and calm.

MERCURY IN RETROGRADE
 Sept 17 - Oct 8, 2015

In retrograde motion, we can slide into ambivalence, finding it more of a chore to make firm decisions about  t whatever we're working with at the time.

Action and Passivity

Action and Presence

From August 27 through Sept 10th, there is a Mars-Venus conjunction taking place in the sign of Leo. This bold, assertive, dynamic, self-assured placement creates a strong sense of 'presence'. We take charge, say what's on our mind and act accordingly.

Uranus, is waiting in the wings to add its action oriented, individualistic Aries energy, firstly to Mars (Sept 1-15,
exact on 8th), and then to Venus (Sept 12-30, exact on 22nd).

The Uranus energy, helps us access determination and passion, leading to creative insights and breakthroughs.

  Symbol for Neptune

Passive and Dreaming

For the month of September, Jupiter (Virgo) is in opposition to Neptune (Pisces). This placement lends itself to a laid back, dreamy, passive, imaginative kind of outlook, which can also indicate restlessness and boredom.  We may lean toward being overly optimistic with those things that really call to our practical nature.  Finding focus, energy and enthusiasm for time-sensitive deadlines, demanding schedules, and psyching ourselves up to be 'on', may feel like a stretch.

Given the diverse energetic expression of the above placements, we might find ourselves juggling to find the happy medium between what appear to be opposing forces of expression.

On the other hand, for those who have control over, and flexibility with their schedules and commitments, it could prove to be a lesson in living in the 'now'.  However we might experience these influences, it is wise to create a schedule which is as well balanced as possible.

Sept 25:  The usually laid back 'go with the flow' Pisces Moon, (in effect at 12:45 pm), finds itself challenged by much stronger dudes, creating mental and emotional stress. On the heels of this, is another influence, which is known for creating tremendous frustration, and anger, as things don't go the way we expect them to.  Air travel and car travel can be especially  challenged by this, so not the optimum day under which to begin a trip.
(Moon in Pisces comes into challenging T-square configuration with Mars (Virgo) and Saturn (Sagittarius) at 1:15 - 2:00 pm; Mars in Virgo squares Saturn in Sagittarius, exact at 6:15 pm)

Sept 27:   Lunar Eclipse in Aries, see LUNAR Activity.

Sept 28:  Start of week Monday morning hustle and bustle can make us feel especially rushed and emotionally put upon this morning.  If we've been hanging onto some frustration and anger from this morning, an early evening influence can push us toward actively working through it.
(Aries Moon comes into a challenging T-square configuration with Mercury (Libra) and Pluto (Capricorn) - 3:30 - 9:00 am; Moon conjuncts Uranus, at 6:30 pm)

Lunar Activity

There are two eclipses taking place this month, which is usually experienced as stressful, in that eclipses 'amplify' the effects of 'lunar' energy, speeding up our nervous system.

Most of us can sense the energies of the eclipse beginning to build at least a day or two prior to when it actually takes place, and often at least a day or two afterwards.  If we tend to be very sensitive to lunar activity, we may feel it 3 or 4  days before and after.  If the degree of an eclipse interacts strongly with our natal chart placements, we can feel the effects for quite some time.

The Solar Eclipse in Virgo

This eclipse can amplify 'fear based' thinking and a tendency to worry, which can lead to  sensitivity in the digestive process.  It is good to prepare for this eclipse by starting to take, or gently increasing the number of 'probiotics' and/or 'enzymes' we take, at least 2 days before and three days after the eclipse.  Eating lightly, staying hydrated, resting more, and breathing deeply, can be most helpful.

We may feel particularly tired around this Eclipse, in that it takes place late at night, which can interfere with our sleep, because of busy mental activity.

Using essential oils which have a calming effect, like Lavender, can be helpful, along with massaging our feet, to help ground us.

The Lunar Eclipse in Aries

The energies prior to and after this Lunar Eclipse in Aries are very challenging, in that we tend to feel a great sense of
'urgency' with everything we're involved with.  This creates its own kind of stress, because it's emotionally intense, and yet we may not be able to step back, and gain some 'real time' perspective with what we're in the middle of.

This Eclipse can also act as an 'vehicle' to push us through emotional situations, where we've felt stuck and ambivalent.
