Hello everyone:

Welcome to the October newsletter. What a summer it's been. Never a dull moment, in the heavens, for sure.

I'm about to take advantage of the fiery, adventurous Grand Trine (described in the newsletter this month), by hitting the road, and visiting one of the national parks in Utah. I'll let you know how the trip goes!

I'm including a short audio about the two eclipses taking place this month, which you can find under the Astro Tips.

Wishing you a fabulous October.

 The Three
Muskateers

Grand  Trine  in  Fire  Element

Sept 29 - Oct 13

Jupiter in Leo

Symbol for Uranus
Uranus/Aries

Mars/Sagittarius

This highly energized, Grand Trine in the fire element is designed to blow out the cobwebs, get us motivated, get us involved in physical activity, away from habits and routines temporarily, so that our spontaneity has a chance to kick in.

The adventurous, action oriented,  Mars in Sagittarius has excellent rapport with the equally freedom loving Uranus in Aries, and 'let's go along for the ride', Jupiter in Leo.

Fire burns away negativity, cuts through stuck energy, expands our inner state, leading to breakthroughs.  Mind you, the Lunar Eclipse energies (Oct 7-9) can still add some friction to the mix, just for the sake of variety!

Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky arrives

Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky, arrived on Friday evening.  I don't know how long Chelsea was in labor, by I can't imagine it was very long.  With Uranus 'rising' in Aries, this little bundle of energy, is more than ready to take the world by storm.

Charlotte has a sixth house Libra Sun, conjunct Venus (Virgo), indicating beauty, charm, refine- ment, along with a desire to be of service.

Her Scorpio Moon in the 7th house of relation- ships is conjunct Mercury in Libra, indicating   good communication abilities, emotional sensitivity, and a capacity to speak directly from the heart, winning her audience over.  She prefers to keep her personal life private.

Her Moon and Mercury are in trine to a 12th house Neptune in Pisces, indicating psychic ability, a tendency to place people she admires on pedestals, a deep awareness to the 'issues' facing her generation, a desire to lose herself in a cause, and the capacity for cultivating much compassion.

The planet, Uranus, plays a significant role in Charlotte's chart.  Uranus (known as the great awakener), indicates the manner in which a person seeks freedom, independence, originality in one's thinking and actions, the desire to rebel against the status quo.

Uranus in the sign of Aries and in the first house (ruled by Aries), would give Charlotte an overwhelming urge to be a part of that which demands radical change, usually resulting in taking on the role of 'activist'.

Uranus is involved in two significant 'patterns'.

GRAND TRINE:

Uranus on her fiery Aries Ascendant is in a Grand Trine with Mars (Sag) in the 8th house, and Jupiter in Leo in the 5th house.

This beneficial pattern creates passion, a strong sense of individuality, spontaneity, enthusiasm, impatience, and intuitive awareness.  A desire is present for travel, involvement in global and international affairs, being true to one's self and one's values.  A desire to be on the go - physically active.

T-SQUARE:

Uranus also forms a challenging T-square, as it conjuncts the Ascendant and South Node in Aries, opposes the North Node in Libra (7th), and squares Pluto in Capricorn in the 10th house, conjunct the Midheaven.  Pluto also squares her Sun in Libra (6th house)

More 'radical' than the grand trine, this combination carries a strong desire to mix it up with those in authority, questioning their power and authority.  The North node in Libra calls upon Charlotte to learn the importance of establishing open communication, collaboration, negotiation and compromise, for the sake of harmony and justice.

Saturn in Scorpio in the 7th house, places much emphasis on personal privacy, along with requiring one to work with powerful emotions, and explore where one stands with intimate relationships.

Self-Acceptance
meets
Willingness to Change

Where is the line between fully accepting ourselves as we are, AND being open, willing and able, to change?  It's my experience that both can exist simultaneously side by side.

I think self-acceptance is about accepting our  our own innate nature.  Knowing ourselves intimately, wholly, and liking who we are, in spite of our shortcomings.  As we go about building a solid relationship with ourselves, trust becomes a part of the experience. This in turn, leads to knowing if, and when, and what we are called upon to 'change'.

We've all faced those signposts in life which lead us to ask ourselves what needs to change.  We may be unhappy within ourselves for an extended period of time, notice that things are not working too well in our lives.  Perhaps we've lost our inspiration and the feeling of being in the 'flow'.  Perhaps we are not experiencing the desired results, from where we've been placing our focus and attention, or we're weary from    weathering difficult circumstances.  But how do we change?

Planets which pressure us to change

SATURN - It's interesting that Saturn gives us the capacity to change, and yet, also creates resistance to change.  In part, this depends on the relationship we have with Saturn, both in our birth charts, and how it may be influencing us, at any given time, via transits or progressions.

Experiences which come via Saturn, are usually slow and enduring. When we can embrace that which Saturn is bringing our attention to, (which may require change and integration), the better chance we have of drawing upon the more supportive attributes of Saturn - some of which involve: strength, clarity, patience, endurance, and right action.  (Taking the appropriate action for the situation we are facing).

URANUS - This planet brings forth experiences which involve 'fast lane' change. Generally, if we like the concept of change, and are comfortable in making quick decisions, we are more likely to be open to the manner in which Uranus operates.  At one end of spectrum, we can experience 'surprise'.  At the other end of spectrum we can experience great 'unpredictability', feeling sometimes like the carpet has just been pulled out from under our feet.  Uranus is more 'revolutionary' in how it brings about change.

PLUTO - Changes which come via a Pluto transit, often require very deep, inner work (especially when challenging influences).  Pluto works at the 'core' level, stripping away  identities, associations, and defenses we've put in place over time, hoping to protect ourselves from change, choosing that which we hope will provide us with sense of stability and continuity.

NEPTUNE - Changes which come via a Neptune transit, can make us feel as though we are co-existing in two different worlds.  There's the world we tend to be more familiar with, the world outside of us, and then there's this  otherworldly place, where we can't quite get our bearings.

Neptune 'dissolves' those things which had previously appeared to be very tangible, including our sense of 'time'.  When we're not used to this energy, we can feel as though we've lost our compass, and our motivation. Those things which were instrumental in giving us a sense of self, and where and how we fit in, seem more illusive than ever before.

However, we may be called upon to change, it's comforting to remember that we've done this before.  We have a lot of experience with this!  Life is full of change.  Change is guaranteed.

Do you remember, Dr. Joe Dispenza, from 'What the Bleep?"  He says that one of the most common questions he is asked, is "Why Is It So Hard to Change?"

Find out what he has to say about this in this You Tube:

Scotland Remains
Part of the U.K.

There's no doubt that Scotland has at times experienced a tumultuous relationship with England, during their three hundred year relationship. Two long wars were fought over Scotland's desire for independence from England.

Recently, Scots went to the polls to vote for themselves, as to whether they sought  independence from the U.K.  Fifty five per cent of the population voted to remain as part of the U.K. and forty five per cent voted for independence.  So for now, Scotland will remain as part of the U.K.

In Scotland's natal chart, we see that Uranus (an agent for radical change and independent thinking) is a focal point.  Placed in the first house, on an Aquarius Ascendant, and in trine to Scotland's Gemini Sun (3rd house), this speaks of  how much the Scots value their freedom and independence.

Scotland also has the feminine/relationship oriented planets in very traditional signs (Moon in Taurus) and (Venus in Cancer), which leans more toward seeking protection and support (including economic support) from a strong ally.

For me, a telltale insight as to why Scotland has been in such a long, somewhat karmic relationship with England, is revealed by two aspects:

1) The four planets in the 6th house, (which has an  subservient flavor to it), but especially the Saturn-Mars conjunction in Leo, in trine to a Sagittarius Midheaven.  Saturn and Mars have very different natures.  Mars is Leo is cavalier, independent and leadership oriented, but Saturn (which sits right on top of it), takes on the role of monitoring and restricting the full expression of the Mars energy, leaning more toward Saturn like values - patience, conformity, and obedience.

2) Gemini Sun in direct opposition to the Midheaven (this creates a lack of confidence in standing alone in the world, and fosters concern about sustainability.

So what might have sparked this most recent  movement toward independence?

 .

1.  URANUS in Aries (by transit) creates a Grand Trine in Scotland's chart. Uranus in the first house, trines the North Node (destiny placement) in Leo in the 6th house and the third aspect of the Grand Trine, involves Progressed Jupiter (9th) conjunct a Sagittarius Midheaven (expression in the world). This speaks of confidence and urgency to go one's own way.

2.   JUPITER in Leo (by transit) conjuncts firstly, Saturn-Mars in Leo in the 6th house, but then conjuncts the North Node in Leo , trines the Midheaven and Progressed Jupiter, and opposes Uranus in Aquarius on the Ascendant.   This creates confidence, philosophical expansion, and a renewed desire for freedom and independence.

3.  Transiting Saturn (Scorpio) makes a Grand Trine to Venus in Cancer (6th) and Pluto in Pisces (1st), creating an inner strength and quiet determination to honor one's values and ways of life.

Why was the vote for Independence unsuccessful?

I believe it was due to a Grand Cross coming into play, created by transiting Saturn.

Transiting Saturn in Scorpio (8th house) opposed progressed Mercury (Taurus) in the second house (economic concerns), while also squaring the Nodes (we want a new future, but we're afraid of too much change too quickly) and Uranus/Ascendant. (It's too radical of a step)

Perhaps they may have fared better if they had an 'Olivia Pope' (Scandal) character at the helm of the independence movement, figuring out how to appeal to those  16 and 17 years old voters, who have 'Saturn in Taurus' placed in their natal charts -  the pinnacle of traditionalism.
