Hello Everyone

Here we are just about to enter February, the month in which we celebrate Valentine's Day and honor love.

There's no doubt about it, when we feel love in our heart, we're more inclined to feel that all is 'right' with our world.  When we cannot access this experience readily, our heart can feel a little 'dry' and life can lack luster and magic.

I know that this year isn't starting off with a 'bang' for everyone, so I'm putting out the possibility of 're-framing' Valentine's month to be about administering 'extreme' self-care.  What if we were mindful of taking every opportunity this month to show up for ourselves, honor ourselves, love ourselves, and choose to participate in those activities which are very nurturing for us.

However you celebrate Valentine's month, here's wishing you warm, fuzzy feelings of love.

A little note to those of you who love watching the OSCARS, I'll be sending out a second newsletter this month, which clues you in on how to win a reading by entering my annual OSCAR competition.

 What's Happening with

Mercury

We've just come out of a difficult Saturn square to Mercury (exact Jan 25), which can really challenge our ability to keep a positive state of mind, not to mention that it can create havoc with regard to communication and technology.

This Saturn square to Mercury takes place two more times:

Exact on February 18 and March 10

This is considered challenging for all activities which involve communications (including high tech applications), being under pressure with meeting deadlines or taking exams, signing legally binding contracts, entering into business negotiations, traveling by air.  It is not considered a favorable 'influence' under which to begin a new project or enterprise.

On another note, during the first 10 days of February,  Mercury, is conjunct Neptune in Pisces.  This can create minor difficulty in finding good mental focus, and can make us feel forgetful.  It doesn't lend itself to critical analysis or being placed in a position whereby we feel rushed to make an important decision.

MERCURY IS IN RETROGRADE

February 6 - until early AM, February 28.

When in doubt, keep things simple,
 like Pooh!

Marianne Williamson
running for Congress

Metaphysical author and teacher, Marianne Williamson, has long been an advocate of the power of love.  She has written ten  books, including A Woman's Worth, Enchanted Love and A Return to Love.  One of her famous quotes is, "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure.  It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us."

When I heard that she had announced her candidacy for election to the U.S. House of Representatives in California's District 33, as an 'independent', I felt so happy to know that someone with such an established metaphysical foundation, is stepping into the political arena.  Not to mention that this is such a boost for women in their 60's seeking to re-invent themselves, and step out, into new dynamic roles in the world.

Marianne said:

"While a new paradigm, holistic, relational perspective now saturates many areas of our society - from education to business to medicine to spirituality - our politics seem to be outside its reach. And we cannot afford to turn away from politics. We might not touch it, but it certainly touches us. And the increasingly calcified thought forms that dominate U.S. politics today - based more on the past than the present, more on fear than on love, and more on economic than humanitarian values - threaten to sabotage our collective good and undermine our democracy."

This announcement prompted me to look at her chart (click on the link listed at the bottom of this article), and sure enough, there seems to be a strong indication that she has had her chart read to determine the best possible timing to announce her candidacy.

Jupiter is conjuncting her 2nd house Venus in Cancer, which helps create instant popularity, and raise campaign funds, much needed by her choice to run as an Independent. Saturn is trining her Venus, which can help in finding a experienced, competent person to help her create her the most successful strategy.

For me, the most telling aspect is transiting Neptune conjunct the Pisces Midheaven, which create's a belief in, and often a 'calling' toward a role which can influence the masses through being the leader of  a transformational movement.

With transiting Uranus in Aries in the 11th house (movements and organizations) squaring her natal Uranus-Sun in Cancer in the 1st house/Venus in the second (most definitely the signature of a progressive thinker and social activist), just starting this year, and in place through April, 2017, indicates she will be seen as a 'shaker and mover'.

Natal Chart

If we add the asteroids to Marianne's natal chart, we discover three Grand Trines, which are considered most beneficial.

1st Grand Trine is in the water element.  Mars in Scorpio in the fifth house (recognizing personal power)  trines the Midheaven (career point) and Uranus in the first (progressive awareness of universal principles)

2nd Grand Trine is in the air element.  Neptune  in Libra in the 5th house (idealistic about the power of love) trines Gemini Ascendant (communicator, writer, teacher) and trines North Node in Aquarius in the 9th house (which is conjunct the asteroid, Juno, representing partnership and collaboration), which speaks of stepping fully into the role of teacher, bringing forth progressive insights.

3rd Grand Trine is in the element of earth.  The asteroid, Ceres (understanding the symbolic significance of the connection with the mother) in Taurus in the 12th house, trines the Moon in Capricorn in the 8th house (understanding and honoring our emotional needs - from the perspective of the feminine), and both are in trine to the asteroid, Vesta, (honoring the role of the high priestess (desire for spiritual union) and the keeper of the hearth flame (bringing nurturing to whatever community we are a part of) in Virgo in the 4th house (sacrifice, as a path to know the heart).

Astro Tips

Tarot 9 of penticles

Artwork by

Rita Lloyd

Please note:  All times given are PST!

Feb 1 - Great aspect for day dreaming and/or meditating, first thing this morning. Don't be surprised if your desire leans toward making this a play day.
(Moon conjuncts Neptune in Pisces, exact at 2:30 am)

Feb 3 - This is one of those wild rides, where the Moon skids into everything 'cardinal', creating a challenging T-square configuration as the day unfolds.  We may have to work at having a good relationship with 'time' today, not to mention, cultivating a willing attitude within the context of our relationships.
(Aries Moon conjuncts Uranus at 1:15 pm, squares Jupiter in Cancer at 5:30 pm and squares Pluto/Venus in Capricorn at 6:00 - 9:00 pm.

Feb 6 - Mercury goes retrograde at 1:45 pm.  Emotional restriction can come into play this evening, signalling the need for quiet time or getting to bed early.
(Taurus Moon opposes Saturn in Scorpio at 8:45 pm)

Feb 7 - This evening, you may feel the desire for some unscheduled time to putter around, and unwind from your week.  Best to stay away from detail oriented, technical projects.
(Gemini Moon squares Neptune/Mercury in Pisces,

5:00 - 7:30 pm)

Feb 10 - Emotionally and psychically sensitive influences abound this morning, so it's a great idea to start the day with a 'mindful' practice.  Best not to rush into the day.  If you need to 'change' the channel this evening, doing something physical, such as going for a walk would be perfect.  It's easy to end the day on an optimistic note.
(Cancer Moon trines Neptune/Mercury in Pisces - 3:00 am - 8:00 am; Moon squares Uranus at 6:30 pm and conjuncts Jupiter at 9:30 pm)

Feb 11 - Another day of not feeling like being rushed into action.  We'd prefer not to 'feel' the feelings today, but it may actually take more energy to 'resist' them.  Avoid scheduling meetings, appointments and such -  between 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.
(Moon opposes Venus in Capricorn at 6:15 am; Sun in Aquarius squares Saturn in Scorpio - exact at 12:00 noon)

Feb 13:  Creative, get up and go energythis morning.
(Leo Moon trines Uranus at 7:15 am)

Feb 14 - Full Moon in Leo at 3:53 pm. See Lunar Activity.
Not the most optimistic influence to start this special day with - however, not all is lost.  Early evening influences get us in the mood for good company, great conversation and a little romance.  Best to have a definite arrangement in place, should you decide to celebrate this evening out.
(Leo Moon squares Saturn in Scorpio at 9:45 am; Aquarius Sun trines Mars in Libra at 6:00 pm; Moon opposes Mercury at 7:15 pm)

Feb 15 -  The morning may start out with, what feels like an 'unfocused' influence, and Mercury is in retrograde to boot, nevertheless, there's excellent  communication influences, offering great analytical focus.
(Virgo Moon opposes Neptune at 8:45 am; Aquarius Sun conjuncts Mercury at 12:15 pm. Mercury trines Mars right around midnight.)

Feb 18 - There's those Cardinal planets skidding up against the big guns today.  The day: We're in a big rush this morning and we can't find what we're looking for, so you'd better stay out of our way.  Then on top of that, we're not in a very good mood as the evening wears on - so you'd better not find fault with us.  What to do? The making of a strange day.
(Libra Moon opposes Uranus in Aries at 6:00 am, squares Jupiter in Cancer at 7:15 am and goes on to square Pluto in Capricorn at 11:00 am; Mercury in Aquarius squares Saturn at 11:00 pm)

Feb 19 -   So this must be 'Groundhog Day' cause, we have the chance to hit the reset button and have things go better than yesterday.  Firstly - our mind is our friend (Hallelujah), and in the early afternoon, we find a second wind, giving us the energy and determination to finish the task at hand.
(Libra Moon trines Mercury in Aquarius at 6:15 am and conjuncts Mars at 1:45 pm)

Feb 20 - Good idea to create some time for reflection, or just being on your own schedule.
(Scorpio Moon trines Neptune at 4:45 am trines Jupiter at 3:30 pm)

Feb 21:  Oops..that Scorpio Moon is taking hold, causing a slippery slide into the emotions.  Time to feel the feelings again.
(Scorpio Moon squares Mercury in Aquarius at 10:00 am and conjuncts Saturn at 2:00 pm)

Feb 22 - 23:  A great weekend for traveling to a retreat or embracing philosophical pursuits.  Saturday night can be energizing and fun.
(Sat: Sagittarius Moon squares Sun-Neptune in Pisces but trines Uranus at 8:30 pm
Sun: Sun conjuncts Neptune, exact at 10:00 am)

Feb 24 - 25: For those who would stay up into the wee hours, tinkering with technology, remember to save your work, often!
(24: Capricorn Moon squares Uranus at 11:15 pm and opposes Jupiter at 11:30 pm.
(25: Jupiter squares Uranus at 11:30 PM)

Feb 27: You may seek out companions for lunch today, with such a fine social and communicative aspect. Later in the evening on the other hand, may be time for some alone time.
(Aquarius Moon conjuncts Mercury at Noon; Moon squares Saturn at 8:00 pm)
