Hello Everyone,

Well it looks like we all made it through the galactic maze...with only a few more days to go, before it's over for the moment.

Are you ready for the New Year?  We just couldn't see 2013 coming to a close without a little pilgrimage of some sort, so my husband and I set off for Garchen Buddhist Institute, about a 25 mile drive from where we live, through the most beautiful countryside.  Of course, we've been know to go 'gaga' over wide open spaces.

It was such a peaceful experience to walk around the expansive grounds, with great vistas, being up at an altitude of 5,300 ft.  It was especially lovely to sit for meditation in the temple and then head up the hill to walk around the stupa. We're so happy that we made time for this.

My most favorite tradition, is to chant on New Year's Eve.  Though it's been some time since we attended a large gathering with other chanters at the New Year, I'm looking forward to lighting incense and lots of tea light candles throughout the house, to welcome in 2014.

However you choose to celebrate New Year's Eve, I hope you enjoy it very much.

Many thanks for your support over the years.  I wish you a blessed New Year.  May 2014 bring forth good health, good cheer, much prosperity and happiness.

JUPITER, SATURN & ECONOMICS

Jupiter remains in the security oriented sign of
Cancer until mid- July of 2014, amplifying the desire (and concern) about having all of our ducks in a row, with regard to feeling economically secure, and being in a position to sustain and expand our current lifestyle.

In turn, Saturn in Scorpio, also connected with financial power, is in place through December of 2014 and then briefly from mid June - mid September, 2015.

These two planets work well together.  Jupiter has an expansive nature, and can help us seek  creative solutions, with regard to our financial situation.  Saturn has a steady, patient and persevering nature, which helps us in making practical, objective evaluations, and in practicing  caution and discernment, if it is called for.

I imagine financial security and sustainability will be high on the list of priorities for many, in the first half of 2014.

JUPITER, SATURN & PSYCHOLOGY

When Saturn in Scorpio is making a challenging transit to planets in the natal chart, particularly the 'personal' planets, it is usually experienced as emotional heaviness.  Our mood can become pensive, as we are called upon to work through challenging emotions, which can be a daunting task, perhaps more so, for those, not acquainted with entering into this type of  process.  For this reason, it's important to recognize when it's time to get help - to reach out to a counselor, energy worker, or someone who has had experience with this type of process.

We may find that we prefer our own company, seeking more solitude, when Saturn is in a retrograde motion, March 2, 2014 through July 19, 2014.

The compassionate and loving energies of Jupiter in Cancer, acquainted with the vulnerabilities of being human, can act as a healing 'salve' in such situations.  This placement can help us to  validate and honor our emotional experience, seeing it as an opportunity to move toward  healing and wholeness.  It serves the purpose of letting go of what we no longer need to 'carry'.

Every sign has a 'shadow' side, which is considered to be less benevolent than it's positive counterpart.  The 'shadow' side of Jupiter in Cancer, is in struggling with addictive behaviors and allowing ourselves to come from the 'victim' role.  It's also easy to focus all of our attention on the problems of others, especially family members, thereby avoiding our own.

GRAND CROSS IN CHART OF THE U.S.

A Grand Cross (challenging configuration) takes place in April of 2014, which involves several planets coming up against the 'Sun' in Cancer, in the birth chart of the United State.  This is in place April 14 - 23, 2014, though there may be some 'fall out' stretching beyond the month of April.

While it's difficult to pinpoint the immediate effects of this placement, how it will unfold, and  determine whether it has any far reaching ramifications, (as this point), it is considered volatile and erratic.  Whatever takes place at this time, will undoubtedly be enough to shake up the stock market, which has been operating on a hair trigger for some time.

While some astrologers are predicting much doom and gloom about the outcome associated with this placement, I think we've come through the biggest surprises already, and I can't imagine this leading to a long term, downward spiral.

JUPITER IN LEO - The Hero's Journey

Mid July, 2014 - mid August, 2015.

Jupiter in the fire sign of Leo, touches on a much 'lighter' aspect of our spirit, as it invites us to embark on the hero's journey - to rekindle our intuition, faith and courage in life, and go toward that which holds passion and sense of purpose for us individually.

More information about this placement will be shared in a future newsletter.

Tarot & Numerology
in 2014

2014   is a ' 7 ' year in numerology, and the
Chariot is the 7th card in the Major Arcana.

Both the '7' and the 'Chariot' are connected to concentrated emotional power, won through the application of steady self-effort, patience and  determination toward a goal.

You can see the 'stance' of the man depicted in this card, to be self-assured, confident and courageous.  He has command over his mind and emotions, hence no reins are required to drive the chariot.  His ability to communicate his thoughts and directions is seen in his one pointed gaze.  He has achieved self-mastery.

This is the perfect year in which to deepen our interest and become knowledgeable and open to that which has has the capacity to create a transformational and healing effect upon our psychological and emotional well being.

As we are become aware of how to strengthen the focus of our inner power and determination and direct it toward tangible goals, we can achieve great results.

Note:   Collectively, many people are still wired to react to a multitude of 'trigger points', which can produce fear based thinking around financial security issues.

In January, there is a New Moon in Capricorn (Jan 1) and a Full Moon in Cancer (Jan 15).  These two signs, are traditionally the most connected to, and concerned, about financial security, so as you might imagine, this lunar activity could be loaded with such trigger points.

These are Root Chakra issues.  Simple, hands-on  remedies to balance the root chakra, are:
   - taking a walk
   - spending time in nature
   - lying on the floor or the bed & breathing
     deeply into the belly
   - wearing sandalwood or rosewood essential oils
   - soaking the feet or taking a full bath in
     Epsom salts

Jan 1:  Four planets in Capricorn brings a desire to be productive, get things organized and planned for the New Year, but we can be ahead of ourselves, especially given that there's a New Moon today, so it's best to take just a little time to ease our way into the first day of the New year.
(Capricorn Moon conjunct Sun/Pluto, in square to Mars at 4:45 am)

Jan 2:  We may notice that we're still a little at odds with how much we're trying to get done, as opposed to our capacity to manage same.
(Sun square Mars at 4:15 pm)

Jan 3- 4 - 5:  We may need to catch up with all the feelings, amplified by the New Moon over the last couple of days. A good idea to keep our calendar clear throughout the weekend, so we can do this, and not feel rushed or put upon.
(Jan 3: Aquarius Moon square Saturn at 5:45 pm
Jan 4:  Moon-Neptune conj. in Pisces at 2:30 pm
Jan 5: Sun opposes Jupiter at 1:15 pm)

Jan 6:  There a good focusing, taking care of business influence today.
(Mercury in Capricorn sextiles Saturn in Scorpio)

Jan 7: The morning hours can get a little crazy, but mid- afternoon influences help us realign better with what we're trying to accomplish.
(Aries Moon conjuncts Uranus and squares Pluto 3:15 am - 8:15 am; Moon opposes Mars at 1:45 pm; Mercury conjuncts Venus is Capricorn at 2:00 pm)

Jan 10: A moment of feeling emotionally separated and overwhelmed, can be changed toward feeling harmony and ease.
(Taurus Moon opposes Saturn at 11:00 am and trines Venus (Capricorn) at 12:00 pm)

Jan 11: Harmonious relationship influences come into play today, along with a desire for focusing on projects.
(Sun conjuncts Venus in Capricorn at 4:30 am. Venus and Sun sextile Saturn in Scorpio, which can be felt all day)

Jan 14:  The energies begin to build toward the Cancer Full Moon (tomorrow).  We may feel especially vulnerable and very rushed, if required to be very 'on' today. We manage to let go of the stresses of the day, as evening approaches.
(Cancer Moon squares Uranus at 10:30 am, opposes Pluto at 4:00 pm and conjuncts Jupiter at 9:00 pm)

Jan 15: Full Moon in Cancer at 8:52 pm.
If we are required to move into our day quickly, we may feel irritable and put upon in the early morning hours and project our unhappiness on those around us. Emotions even out in the late morning/early afternoon.
(Moon in a T-square with Mars (Libra) and Venus (Capricorn) 4:00 - 6:15 am; Moon trines Saturn at 12:00 pm)

Jan 16:  Oops - one more 'out of sorts' influence sneaks in this morning. A creative mental influence comes into play today.  For late night techies, there's a nice creative flow, but remember to 'save' as you go!
(Venus squares Mars at 9:15 am; Mercury in Aquarius sextiles Uranus, and Leo Moon trines Uranus from 10:00 - 11:15 pm; Moon opposes Mercury at 11:15 pm)

Jan 21: Late night influence can make it difficult to get to sleep.
(Libra Moon opposes Uranus at 10:30 pm)

Jan 22:  Scattered energies all morning, can be frustrating, and make us wonder whether we're coming or going.  Later in the afternoon, things come into focus, and if we still want to, we can hit the 'reset' button in the evening.
(Libra Moon forms a T-square to Pluto/Venus in Capricorn and Jupiter in Cancer 4:00 - 10:00 am;
Moon trines Mercury (Aquarius) at 4:00 pm and conjuncts Mars at 7:50 pm)

Jan 24: Take advantage of the mentally creative influence this morning.  Feeling energy flows with ease this afternoon.
(Mercury in Aquarius trines Mars in Libra at 7:00 am; Scorpio Moon trines Jupiter at 1:30 pm and sextiles Venus at 4:00 pm)

Jan 25:  Restrictive mental and emotional influences in place this morning, are best suited to the mantra, 'this too, shall pass'.
(Mercury in Aquarius squares Saturn at 4:00 am; Scorpio Moon conjuncts Saturn at 5:45 am and squares Mercury at 5:00 am)

Jan 26: Best to allow an open schedule, for frolicking in the imagination and going with the flow, in keeping with these philosophical influences.
(Sagittarius Moon squares Neptune at 2:00 am and trines Uranus at 11:00 am)

Jan 28:  It's easy to feel out of sync with what we're trying to accomplish today. Hopefully, we can 'right our course' at the day progresses.  At the very least, we can make peace with everything in early evening.
(Capricorn Moon squares Uranus at 12:00 pm, conjuncts Pluto at 4:30 pm, opposes Jupiter (Cancer) at 5:00 pm, but aligns with Venus at 7:00 pm)

Jan 30:  New Moon in Aquarius. See Lunar Activity.

Jan 31:  Chinese New Year:  Year of the Horse
There is a tendency to sink into an emotional pit this morning, but luckily, we're immediately presented with a proactive solution. Venus goes direct at 1:00 pm, which is great news for relationships. Late night influence is great for finding intuitive solutions to what is on our mind, and, is good for dreaming.
(Aquarius Moon squares Saturn at 8:00 am, but trines Mars at 8:45 am; Moon conjuncts Mercury in Pisces at 8:30 pm)

Lunar Activity:

See information above 'Astro Tips' for first New Moon of the month, and Full Moon information.

New Moon    Jan 30    10 deg. Aquarius   1:39 pm

The second New Moon this month, in the sign of Aquarius, helps shift our attention to how we might align ourselves with larger issues, be they 'global' or 'universal' in nature.

As an example, if we're not yet 'recycling', we might decide to put this into practice for the year, as our commitment to helping the environment.
