March 28, 2013

Hello Everyone

Welcome to the April newsletter!

Life has kept me on my toes this month, but the onset of sunny Spring days has put a smile on my face, and lifted the serious-ness of my mood.  I also was given a Grade A opportunity this last week to see if my sense of humor was intact.

I just happened to pull up at the Bank drive-through window, right along side my husband's vehicle. The coincidence wasn't lost on me, since it's never happened before.  His van, being so much higher off the ground than my little car, prevented him from seeing that I was parked along side of him. I scribbled down a quick note and sent it off to the teller, asking if she would mind passing this note to my husband, while he waited for his transaction to complete.

She smiled as she read my scirbble:  "Unfortunately, your wife has emptied out the bank account and skipped town. We hope you have a good day."  I never got to see the look on his face, because his transaction was complete and managed to arrive before my note.  Living in a small town has it's advantages, in that the bank teller knew both of us!

The motto of the story is, I have been thinking about how best to hold onto a sense of humor and stay in the cosmic flow, when it's so easy to get caught up in the stresses of modern living and the urgency to respond so quickly to each and every situation.

If you have a story you'd like to share about this very subject matter, please go ahead and email it to me.

On another note, warm wishes for a Happy Easter to you and yours.

The Pull of

the Inner Life

Tarot Hermit

The current astrological climate favors that which contributes to settling down our energies and turning within. Saturn in Scorpio, Pluto in Capricorn and Neptune in Pisces are all powerful beacons for delving into deeper, and sometimes unchartered territory.

The energies of Saturn and Pluto can feel quite dense and heavy.  These penetrating energies can be hard on our emotional and physical wellbeing, calling upon us to take very good care of ourselves.

The most effective way of working with these energies is in being willing to address core issues...getting to the bottom of an illness or emotional imbalance...peeling off the layers, one at a time and patiently staying with the process. Of course, it goes without staying, that whomever you decide to work with, be it a health care practioter, healer, therapist or spiritual counselor, it helps to have a practitioner, who is thorough, patient and with whom you have a good rapport.

Neptune in Pisces, while a powerful agent for spiritual awakening, and deeping our awareness of consciousness, for the less than enlightened, it can also be a vehicle for  increased addictive behavior patterns, which are hard to break free of, thereby creating a fluctuating emotional or mental experience.

Just about any metaphysical article you read currently,  addresses the power of these planetary alignments or of the times in general.  While they create a vortex of very intense energy, taking us through our paces and testing our tenacity and sanity, they are also a poweful vehicle for personal growth and spiritual transformation.

The power and clarity lies in our level of understanding and in our intention.  If we have the desire, can hold the intention, and courageously ride the waves of these tumultous enegies, it can be a very empowering choice.  If this is our choice, we cannot do it alone.  It is wise to be armed with effective spiritual practices, have an open dialogue with the Divine, constantly open ourselves up to Grace and pray for guidance.  These are times in which we might need to become acquainted with humility and personal sacrifice, but at the same time, not isolate ourselves from the right amount of social interaction, according to our own nature, which helps us  feel connected to our tribe, family and friends.

Pope  Francis

Newly elected Pope Francis has a powerful chart. Uranus, a planet which has an unconventional, radical, and thought provoking expression, is prominently placed in his 10 th house (relationship with outer world and style of leadership) and is also the focal point of one of the two challenging T-square configurations in his birth chart.  Mars, is the other planet at the center of a second T-square configuration, indicating that he does not shy away from contention and controversy.

Only fitting that he should be elected to this position when transiting Uranus in Aries, is currently creating a T-square to his natal Ascendant (Cancer) and Mercury (Capricorn).  Uranus transits are famous for bringing forth unexpected outcomes.

Pope Francis has a Sagittarius Sun, placed in the 6th house of service, Moon is conjunct Venus in Aquarius in the 7th house of relationships, and he has a Cancer Ascendant.  This  speaks of a strong idealism and faith, (Sagittarius Sun), a commitment to social justice and equality (Moon/Venus in Aquarius) and a desire to improve conditions for those less fortunate in a very hands-on manner (Cancer rising).

Two planets in the practical earth sign of Capricorn (Jupiter & Mercury), along with a harmonius Taurus Midheaven, bring forth patience, fortitude and an understanding of the need to uphold some of the more traditional and conservative values within the Catholic church.

Jupiter in early degree Capricorn, conjuncts the Pope's Sun in Sagittarius, while Neptune in Virgo squares the Sun.  This combination, joined by Saturn in ther sign of Pisces, speaks of the capacity for deep devotion, humility, and simplicity.

Mercury in Capricorn placed in the 7th house, trined by both Uranus and Neptune, is also opposite the Ascendant.  This could point to an invincible belief that there is a practical solution to to eradicate poverty, hardship and suffering from this world.  With magnanumus Jupiter conjuncting Mercury, this Pope would be open to soliciting opinions and assistance from a radically diverse group of individuals as to how this might be implemented.

With Sun in Sagittarius, Mars in Libra, Moon-Venus in Aquarius and a well placed Mercury, this Pope has a keen intellect, a good sense of humor, a great love of people, and prefers to side step pomp and circumstance, or anything which appears to be more exclusive, than inclusive, or simply anything which places distance between the church and it's followers.

Pluto in the first house (ruled by Mars), in square to Uranus and the midheaven, (and perhaps in keeping with his Latin American/Italian upbringing), he's not afraid of energetically and robustly aruguing a point, and refusing special favor to those who carry a sense of 'entitlement'.

A Sun-Jupiter conjunction in trine to the Midheaven, and Uranus at the Midheaven, gives great potential for steering the Catholic Church in a new direction, which is likely to involve an personal and genuine invitation to catholics to take a step in closer to strengthen their faith and cultivate a loving and service oriented attitude toward life, and each other.

Astro Tips

Note:  All times given are PST.

The Sun, Venus and Mars are all aligned in the sign of Aries for the first 11 days of April, activating the desire for outdoor activity and being in action oriented mode.  We have things to do and places to go.  It's Spring!

Apr 2-3:  As a Capricorn moon, vies for patience and persistence, the Aries planets carry a sense of urgency and a desire to break free of schedules and constraints.

Apr 6-7:   Perfect influences align, for casting off the sedentary energies of the winter months and bursting forth with the new, energetic ideas and hopes of Spring.
(Venus-Mars conjunct in Aries (Sat. even) and Moon-Mercury conjunct in Pisces (Sun. evening).

Apr 9-10:  Influences can be 'edgy' on Tuesday morning, as the energy builds toward the Aries New moon, exact at 2:30 am Wed. morning.  This new Moon conjuncts Mars and Venus, a combination which lends itself to being decisive, enthusiastic and enterprising, freeing us up to take immediate action on those things we've been thinking about....great influences for the renewal of the spirit.

Apr 11:  Watch for a mid-afternoon lull, in which we may fall into feeling tired and discouraged, after the experience of yesterday's high energy influences.
(Saturn opposes Moon in Taurus at 2:35 pm).

Apr 14:  A Moon-Jupiter conjunction in Gemini at mid-day, is both philosophical and communicative, making it the perfect brunch or picnic combo.  A great time to catch up with friends and/or take an afternoon drive.

Apr 16-17:  We may feel at odds with the fluctuating energies.  On one hand, we want to get things done at great speed, but on the other hand, it's all moving too quickly for us.
(Cancer Moon opposes Pluto and squares Uranus (3:15 - 7:15 pm on 16th;  Sun-Mars conjunction in Aries at 5:15 pm on 17th)

April 18-19:  Artsy influence are great for bringing everything in to perspective, allowing for a sense of ease, peace of mind and creative insights.
(Venus in Taurus sextiles Neptune in Pisces, at 8:15 pm on 18th; Leo Moon sextiles Uranus in Aries at 3:15 am and Jupiter in Gemini at 2:00 pm on 19th.

April 20:  Look for innovative breakthroughs in your thinking today, or for late night owls, it may have come forth in the week hours of the morning).
(Uranus-Mercury conjunction in Aries at 2:15 am)

April 21-22:  A combination of influences can bring about an erratic moods and emotional vulnerability as the energies build toward the Lunar Eclipse on 25th.
(Moon opposes Neptune at 3:00 am; Mercury squares Pluto at 4:45 am on 21.  Venus in Taurus opposes Saturn in Scorpio just after midnight on 21st).

There are a combination of influences between April 21 and May 1, activated by the energies of the Eclipse on 25th,  which can set off a combination of challenges.  Some may lead to a fluctuation in the financial markets, and a domino effect may take place, along with a marked  increase in identity fraud, and basic security issues.  At home and globally, the 'stuck' energetic theme, can lead to political unrest, with a pronounced difficulty in reaching compromise and trust.

Apr 25:  The build up of energies toward and surrounding the Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio today (1:00 pm), can be  emotionally contracting and quite challenging on a personal level.  This is in part, because of a conjunction between the Lunar Eclipse and Saturn at 5:15 pm.  We can feel a lack of energy, confidence and enthusiasm.  Not a good day to have important discussions about finances with a significant other, or seek a loan, or close on property.

April 28:  A Saturn-Sun opposition creates stuckness, preventing things from moving forward, because of mistrust and inability to reach compromise.

April 30:  Mars-Saturn opposition is more of the above.

LUNAR ACTIVITY

New Moon:     Apr 10        20 deg Aries  at     2:35 am
A most energetic experience surrounds this New Moon in the action oriented sign of Aries, in that it also conjuncts Mars and Venus, also in Aries!  Don't be surprised if you jump out of bed, sword in hand ready to embark on a solo adventure.  We feel the need to create personal space and be on the go.

Lunar Eclipse:    Apr 25     5 deg Scorpio at   12:57 pm
The energies around this lunar eclipse can feel emotionally dense and somewhat heavy much of the day, because of it's conjunction with Saturn at 5:15 pm.

This combination calls for gathering our energies inward, slowing down, resting and spending some quiet time in the sunshine.
