Sadly, information has just been released that the window of opportunity for same-sex couples to marry has closed.  No more licenses will be issued.  It is doubtful that licenses that were process, but were not certified, will be legal.  Couples in this situation should call the Clerk's Office on Monday.

The Clerk's office was prepared to open tomorrow to process and certify licenses although they were not going to perform the civil ceremony.  The ruling eliminates this possibility or need.

Hopefully it will not be long before all loving couples will be able to be married in Indiana giving all of the protections, rights, and responsibilities to same-sex couples that heterosexual couples presently enjoy.

We are enormously grateful for the efforts of the Marion County Clerk and her employees in trying to allow as many couples through the process that they could in two and a half days.  They stayed open late all three days and worked tirelessly to give the opportunity to as many as possible in this window.  All of the after-hours work by the staff in the clerk's office was volunteered.  Thank you so much to Beth White, Marion County Clerk, and all of her staff.  Over 500 couples are now joyously married because of their efforts!
