WE'VE MOVED
Capitol Hill Housing has moved its offices to 12th Avenue Arts:

1620 12th Avenue
Suite 205
Seattle, WA 98122

"Small art and love and beauty their drudging spirits knew.

Yes, it is bread we fight for - but we fight for roses, too!"

At the grand opening of 12th Avenue Arts, House Speaker Frank Chopp quoted from the well-known 1911 workers' poem Bread and Roses, kneading into it the conviction that housing is as basic as good wages and dignified lives. To quote Representative Chopp: "Why housing? Because it is a basic necessity of life! Why art? Because it inspires us to live!" He got everyone in the audience to stand and cheer for Capitol Hill Housing.

It was a truly grand opening event - with performances and food, and well-timed speeches. Thank you all who came and all who helped build this wonderful place that will bring bread and roses (and housing) to thousands of people for decades to come.

But our work is not ended and Capitol Hill Housing cannot win the fight alone. Let's continue together, marching for equity and social justice. Because too many people live in poor conditions, too many people are paid low wages, and too many lives are sweated from birth until life closes.
