WE'VE MOVED
Capitol Hill Housing has moved its offices to 12th Avenue Arts:

Hello friends,

At long last we are back on Capitol Hill in our great new building, 12th Avenue Arts. As you may know, we spent the last two years downtown awaiting the completion of the most ambitious project in our nearly 40-year history. It was well worth the wait - and how lucky we are to be surrounded again by such a great community. The anticipation for this building has been so great that our grand opening reached capacity quickly. If you were unable to register for the grand opening, please come to our open house on December 10th.

Capitol Hill's makeover has continued unabated in our absence, bringing both positive and concerning changes to our neighborhood. The energetic vibe is unmistakable, but so too are the skyrocketing rents and loss of some of that affordable, artistic funky-ness, which was part of the impetus behind 12th Avenue Arts. I'm not going to sound the "change is bad" alarm. I think balanced change is healthy. But it has to be intentional, and we as a community must convene and fight for affordability - whether in support of the small theater or the young family being pushed out of the neighborhood - equity, inclusion and social justice should be the leading values in our continued fight for balance.
