Hello friends,

I believe in climate change. What's more, I believe that human behavior has, at a minimum, accelerated the pace of climate change. Deforestation and the tons of CO2 we continue to dump into our atmosphere are changing the planet, and the results are devastating.

Enter the Capitol Hill EcoDistrict. This may sound highfalutin, but I'd say the ultimate goal of the EcoDistrict is to save the planet. Isn't that the goal of any sustainability effort? When we talk about driving resilience through the reduction of greenhouse gases, reducing our carbon footprint or minimizing waste, we are saying that our behavior has to change so that we can pass on the Earth through posterity.

The EcoDistrict proposes that much of what we need to do to ensure resilience on the global scale starts at the neighborhood scale. Your behavior, my behavior, our collective local behavior, will make a difference globally. If we can do it here, we can do it anywhere.

Check out the new Capitol Hill EcoDistrict website to learn more about how we can advance neighborhood sustainability.
