Hi-Desert Nature Museum - Tortoise Tales
MBHS presents

History of Gold Mining in the Dale District

Historians and miners Jim Wharff and Tom Koch will
talk about gold mining in California from 1848 to present. They'll bring old mining equipment and artifacts to show the various methods used by prospectors.  In 1898 during its heyday there were as many as 3,000 miners in the Dale District which is located 15 miles southeast of Twentynine Palms. Join us for this fascinating look at the rush for gold.

Where were you on November 22, 1963?

Morongo Basin Historical Society is presenting the 50th Anniversary Kennedy Project at the Hi-Desert Nature Museum on Wednesday November 20 from 5:30 to 6:30.

We are looking for residents of the Morongo Basin who were residing in the greater Morongo Basin area at the time of the assassination.  We want to know how you heard the news and how people here reacted.   Come and share stories, memorabilia, and your feelings about the day 50 years ago when John F. Kennedy was killed in Dallas.

Call Laurie at 760-363-6681 to participate in this project or just come and listen to stories of this historic moment in time.
