Reporting to the CEO, the Artistic Director is responsible for the overall artistic direction, personality and development of the festival; spearheading new work and commissions and overseeing their development; pro-actively developing partnerships with local, national and international arts organizations and artists; catalysing active participation in and knowledge of the local arts community; developing fresh thinking for the festival's education, community, outreach and volunteer programs; oversight of curators in music, visual arts, literature and public programs; management and oversight of the Festival program and commissioning budget, and conducting staff performance reviews for the festival. Through this mandate, the new AD will help lead the Luminato festival forward into its second decade, working in close partnership with the CEO to grow its artistic vision, its scope and scale, its distinctive global reputation, and its local audience impact. The newly appointed CEO also brings experience in global cultural programming and in many different kinds of artistic leadership and management.

Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre

Technical Director

Confederation Centre is a large complex, constructed as Canada's memorial to the Fathers of Confederation and Canada's birthplace. It is a living memorial housing several theatres, including a 1,100 seat Class A theatre, a 500 seat outdoor amphitheatre, a cabaret theatre as well as a studio theatre. It contains a very significant national art gallery that has more than 16,000 pieces in its permanent collection. The Centre also has its own restaurant and gift shop and provides catering services for meetings and conventions. The Centre provides artists from across Canada and beyond opportunities to showcase their talent and develop their skills.
 
The Technical Director is a member of the theatre department and reports to the General Manager of Theatre. The Technical Director has daily responsibilities for the technical operations of theatre spaces and oversees the technical requirements for all Confederation Centre of the Arts (CCOA) productions including the Charlottetown Festival. The Technical Director oversees the work of all theatre production staff.

S/he carries responsibility for preparation, day to day management and follow-through of each production assigned. New Ontario Arts Council grants supporting arts managers 
The Ontario Arts Council (OAC)'s Compass program has two new components. Compass is the program that funds capacity-building for organizations and professional development for individuals. Both of the program's existing components remain.
The new categories are:

Micro-grants: Professional Development for Arts Managers
  • Individual arts managers can apply for micro-grants to support management skills training.
  • Deadline to apply: March 1, 2016 and November 1, 2016
  • Your activity must begin after the application deadline you are applying to. Also, the activity cannot finish before the results of the program are announced (approx. two months after the deadline).
Arts Management Internships
  • Organizations that receive OAC operating funding can apply for a grant to host an arts management intern who is Aboriginal, of colour, Deaf and/or has a disability.*
  • Deadline to apply: July 5, 2016
  • Your activity cannot begin before being notified of whether your application was successful (approx. three months after the deadline).
