 A Star-Spangled Spectacular The Cleveland Orcheatra and ideastream Wednesday, July 2 at 9 p.m. Free Public Square and on WCLV 104.9 Each summer, The Cleveland Orchestra presents a free concert of patriotic favorites and popular classical repertoire in downtown Cleveland. An annual tradition since 1990, the Public Square concert ends with a spectacular display of fireworks set against the Cleveland skyline. If you can't make it downtown, you can still experience the concert by tuning into WCLV 104.9. Jacqueline Gerber and ideastream's Dave Kanzeg will co-host the broadcast, which begins at 9 pm. Ryan Legassicke's "Shadows - Wall Disease" and Janet Macpherson's "Processional", are two exhibitions that comment on the human condition. Encompassing a series of full-scale 3D sections of five famous barriers, Ryan's exhibition examines the resulting psychological effects caused by the ongoing use of separation barriers and security fences around the world. Motivated by the vivid images of her Catholic childhood, Janet creates a series of hybrid creatures using re-purposed commercial plaster and hand-made molds.
