A Note from Jay
The Backbone of Our Success

One of the hallmarks of Community Development Corporations, like the Community Development Partnership (CDP), is our connection to the people we serve, and the importance we place on involving our clients, residents and community leaders in setting our program priorities.  As a certified Community Development Corporation, we are required by the Commonwealth to have a diverse and representative Board. This Board is charged with ensuring our programs help to improve the lives of our low to moderate-income neighbors.

Our sixteen member Board of Directors is made up of residents of the eight Lower Cape towns. They bring a variety of skills and expertise-as small business owners, bankers, and advocates for affordable housing and sustainable economic development.  One of our Board members is a resident of one of our affordable homes, while another Board member is a loan client.  Our Board also has many Committees, comprised of both Board members and community volunteers. These committees work to better inform the Board's role in setting policy and serving as stewards of our precious resources.

Two years ago, we created an Advisory Council to enable us to broaden our base of community leaders who are invested in our success and further strengthen our connection to the communities we serve.  The Advisory Council now consists of over 60 members. These individuals serve on Committees, and advise the staff and board as we sharpen our existing efforts and explore new program initiatives.

A primary reason for our success over the years has been the commitment of our Board and Advisory Council members to help us focus our efforts to meet community need with the greatest impact, and help us secure the resources we need to do the work we do.  I am so grateful for all our Board and Advisory Council members do to enable us to create opportunities for people to live, work and thrive on the Lower Cape.

As always thank YOU for your interest and support.

A Sustainable Future
Increasing Energy Efficiency

Within many of the programs and services we provide to both business owners and homeowners, energy efficiency has become a foundation. We wanted to share this image because it does such a great job laying out various energy efficiency options and gets you thinking about measures to implement both in your home and in your business.

One of the significant things we've been able to do is install 420 solar panels on some of the affordable rental homes we own and manage across the Lower Cape. Just in this most recent quarter a portion of them (264 panels) generated a total revenue of $11,000. These same panels have generated $47,000 in revenue since they were installed just about 3 years ago. When you add that with the savings realized from some of these other measures it's a win-win for the budget and the environment.
