Supporter Spotlight
We are thrilled to announce a grant from Wellfleet's SPAT (Shellfish Promotion and Tasting) to increase our support and services to the shell fishing community. The services, including business technical assistance, small business financing and Cape and Islands Green, are targeted to strengthen small businesses and enhance the local economy.
SPAT is a non-profit organization that fosters greater understanding of the town's shellfishing industry and the history & traditions of its aquaculture and wild fisheries. SPAT's grant awards program is funded by proceeds from the Wellfleet Oysterfest, which they produce, and funds those whose creative or educational contributions increase awareness of the community's shellfishing practices and traditions. We would like to say, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for this investment in the small business community.

We'll Be Walking
We are excited to be participating in the 21st Annual Bob Murray Housing with Love Walk. The 104-mile, seven-day walk spanning all 15 C ape Cod towns raises money for a variety of housing support organizations and creates awareness about critical housing issues on the Cape, including homelessness, foreclosures and affordability. CDP walkers will be participating in the Lower Cape portion of the walk which will occur Monday, July 15 - Wednesday, July 17. Jay Coburn, CDP Executive Director had this to say, " In addition to raising much needed funds to support our affordable rental homes, the Housing with Love Walk helps raise awareness of the fact that not everyone on Cape Cod lives in a beautiful home on the water. Our journey from Provincetown to Woods Hole helps all who love the Cape, visitors, seasonal residents and year-rounders, understand we need to do more to ensure that all of our neighbors have a safe and affordable place to call home.

Small Business Expands with Micro Loan Support
Brian Tilton is The Building Inspector of Cape Cod. The business provides home and septic inspections, as well as thermal energy scans and energy audits for Cape Cod, the Islands and the South Shore. In business for 8 years and growing each one, Brian decided it was time add employees and expand his service offerings. In order to take this next step he needed financing. Enter the CDP. Our Business and Credit Program staff worked with Brian to access financing through our Micro Loan program. With the funds, he has added one full time job and one part-time job to the local economy. He is also on the path to become Cape and Islands Green verified. According to Brian, "The best way to grow the business is to help grow my community." We're pleased we've been able to support Brian to take his business to the next level.

A Note from Jay

Dear Friends:
We could not have asked for a more perfect day for our May 1st Annual Meeting: Blue skies, a capacity crowd, great hospitality from the Back Nine Café, the opportunity to honor housing activist Bob Murray and an inspiring speech from Senator Elizabeth Warren. Thanks to all who attended. Click here to see some highlights from the afternoon.
At the Annual Meeting, we elected three new members to the CDP's Board of Directors: Susan Lindquist, Michael MacIntyre and J'aime Sparrow. You can read about these individual and the unique expertise they bring to us at our website. Also at Annual Meeting, we voted to create an Advisory Council of community and business leaders who support the mission of the CDP and have expressed a desire to be involved in our success. If you would like to learn more about the Advisory Council, contact our Director of Development & Marketing, Moira Noonan-Kerry, by clicking here.
Finally, our fiscal year comes to a close on June 30th. In the next few weeks, a fundraising appeal will arrive in your mailbox. I hope you will do your part to help us continue to provide affordable places to live for our low- to moderate-income neighbors and support and nurture promising new businesses on the Lower Cape. Perhaps you will be inspired to make a recurring donation, charged to your credit card each month. Click here for more information.
Thanks for your ongoing support,
Jay
