Saving Energy in Affordable Rental Housing
We're excited to announce that 10 of our affordable rental units will be receiving new energy efficient refrigerators. The new appliances are a component Fridge RRI of the organization's Real Return Initiative. CDP Executive Director, Jay Coburn says, "All people need predictability and stability in their lives and this is especially true for our low and moderate income neighbors. These energy efficient refrigerators will reduce the monthly electric bills for our residents and make their energy costs more predictable." 21 people will
be affected by the new efficient refrigerators. Read more here.

Grant Awards Totaling $80,000

We are pleased to announce recent grant awards totaling $80,000. A huge thank you to our funders, that include:

  • Enterprise Rural and Native American Initiative - $25,000
  • Mary-Louise Eddy and Ruth N. Eddy Foundation - $20,000
  • Sailors' Snug Harbor - $15,000
  • TD Bank Charitable Foundation - $20,000

"We are so grateful to receive this vital support, particularly from private sector funders. These funds will primarily support our Real Return Initiative, as well as the Cape Cod Fisheries Trust," said CDP Executive Director Jay Coburn. "In these times of diminished government support, grant funds and contributions from individuals are crucial to ensure our work continues."

Affordable Rental Housing Stock Increases in Eastham
The Town of Eastham has added more affordable rental housing to its current stock and we were pleased to be a part of it. The two detached units at 95 Wampum Lane, purchased by the Eastham Affordable Housing Trust with Community Preservation Act funds, are a one and two bedroom respectively. The CDP's Abigail Chapman was involved in the project as a consultant during the
Wampum
95 Wampum Lane (Back Unit)
property assessment phase and as the Project Manager for the rehab work. The primary work was done in the one bedroom unit to make it handicap friendly, including the bathroom and
addition of ramps. According to Eastham Affordable Housing Trust Chair William Burt, "Trust members are very excited, knowing that both units will be
occupied in the coming weeks; and we greatly appreciated the work of the Community Development Partnership for their assistance during the required renovation work on both units."

We're Growing!
We're thrilled to introduce additions and changes to the CDP staff. Christine Henault is the CDP's new Records Manager and Moira Noonan-Kerry will remain with the organization in a new capacity as Director of Development and Marketing.

Christine joins the CDP with 14 years of bookkeeping and office experience. She most recently worked with
Christine Head Shot
Christine Henault

Moira comes to this position with extensive knowledge of the CDP, it's programs, market and mission. She began working for the CDP as a Vista Volunteer in 2002. She joined the staff permanently in 2003, and has served the organization in several capacities since that time, most recently as Interim Executive Director.

Please join us in welcoming them to the CDP family!

A Note from Jay

I'd like to extend a thank you to everyone who has supported our Annual Appeal. You're making a difference! With your help we have raised over $13,000. 62 fisherman will continue to fish in local waters through the Cape Cod Fisheries Trust. 122 of your neighbors living in our affordable rental units will realize monthly cost savings due to energy efficiency measures implemented through the Real Return Initiative. Our environment is being preserved through the creation of renewable energy via solar power and through the use of sustainable business practices adopted through Cape and Islands Green.

And it's not too late to join us in sustaining this unique and vibrant place.

Thank you again for providing opportunities for people to live, work and thrive in this vibrant place we call home. THIS PLACE MATTERS because of you.

With Regards, Jay pic
