What a busy month of April we had with over 8000 Travel Miles picking up and delivering art by van across America!
We started early April in New Orleans to film the Opening of "Duck Sauce" curated by GEFQ Hero Among Us, Dapper Bruce Lafitte, for 30 local New Orleans VERY talented artists who also happen to be friends of Bruce. It's his chance to shine the light on other talented people from all walks of life who have a dream of getting recognized. It was an exciting experience and Tee Marvin captured all of the artists on film as a way for the GEFQ to help out and fulfill our mission of shining the light as well. The Show was at the New Orleans Art Center run by Christina Juran & Herman Kron, two local artist and hard working visionaries. They took over a not so desirable building and breathed life into an Amazing Space shared with really talented locals. The New Orleans Art Center at 3330 St. Claude is located in the St. Claude Arts District of the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana. The gallery features 6000 square feet of open space and every square inch was filled for Bruce's Show. Tee made a Cool Rocking "Duck Sauce" Trailer for Social Media PR as the group was setting up for opening night. She then came back and filmed each of the artists on Opening Night and GEFQ will turn that into one film as well as individual films for each artist to use.

One of our favorite Rockmore Collectors and well known Artist Delle Bates is having a show this month at the Lake Charles Museum that we had the Rockmore Show in. We had suggested the idea during our Rockmore Show in 2014 and now it has come to be. Congrats to Delle and please stop by and see it and let them know we sent you! We had quite the adventure to deliver and set up Rockmore's Stone Child in Rockmore Collector Richard Bergeron's Home Museum! Richard owns several Rockmores including The Masterpiece "Bon Voyage" (a 9ft Tall Homage to Shirley). Rockmore's masterworks are nestled between Picasso, Diego Rivera & Tamayo works. Most amazing Home Collection EVER!!! Then it was on to visit Rockmore friend & Collector, F. Peter Rose in Tuscon. Interesting that Pete had once posed with Bon Voyage in 85 as Rockmore constructed it in New Orleans.

Sad News in the Rockmore World on the passing of Michael Nami Sr. this past week. Michael and The Nami family were supporters of Rockmore throughout his time in the French Quarter. In the 70s, Phillip Nami, his dad, ran the restaurant next to Johnny White's who was an Auburn Football hero. Phil had 3 sons, Michael, Asa & David 11,10 & 9 when he met Gail Nami in the early 70s who became his wife and helped raise the boys and had her own daughter Noel (named after Rockmore) with Phil. The Nami Family supported Rockmore with food, money and companionship in exchange for his art. Gail Nami would become one of the people that would listen to Rockmore, watch him paint, help manage his affairs, get him out of trouble, all while managing 3 teen age boys and her own infant daughter. We interviewed Michael at his home in Mississippi in 2009 after Hurricane Katrina with Shirley Marvin.

We picked up Andrea Lannin's (Rockmore's NY girlfriend in the mid 70s) artwork and belongings in Albuquerque and brought them to her new place for her hospice in Connecticut. Andrea has decided to retire from her career in New Mexico and also her medical treatments for cancer. She has taught us so much about Rockmore, the Artworld, New York and FaceBook marketing (Andrea was an early adopter). We look forward to working with her on the upcoming shows now that she will be close at hand and we stand in awe of her courage. We appreciate her Rockmore artwork donations to the GEFQ including the two below left. The two pictures at right were last week in Cape Cod with Andrea.
We appreciate each and every one of you and our time together. We hope you will consider making a donation towards the upcoming shows through our eBay coming up THIS Tuesday May 10th 9PM ET. You can also help by signing up to sponsor our shows - see details below! The work below from the Doris Allen Collection has an interesting French Quarter Historic Connection between several of the top icons in the Louisiana Artworld. It is Noel Rockmore + Stella & Rolland Golden + Doris & Bryant Allen all sketched in December of 1970 as their live and careers were to be joined forever.
