There was a MAJOR Rockmore related moment this past month that we wish to share. When we first started this Noel Rockmore Project 10 years ago, we discovered that Rockmore had a famous cousin named Clara Rockmore. Clara was also a violin prodigy and a contemporary of Gladys Rockmore Davis. Clara was selected by Leon Theremin to play his new instrument that made music via electronic waves (Early Moog synthesizer- Good Vibrations sound). Clara went on to an amazing career playing the Theremin at major venues and even released a record in 1977 when interest piqued again in her career. She used the Gladys Rockmore Davis portrait below for the album cover made when they were both at the height of their careers. Clara married Gladys Rockmore's Cousin named Bob Rockmore (instead of Leon Theremin who also asked). Noel Rockmore was asked by Gladys to paint a beautiful portrait of Bob Rockmore, the NY attorney. Instead, Rockmore decided that he would dissect Bob and all his worst qualities and put them into this portrait. The family was horrified and eventually the portrait was destroyed after much family anguish and turmoil. The family loved to tell that story. Clara's family started a Foundation to keep her memory and accomplishments alive at the same time we started the Noel Rockmore Project. Last week, Google posted a tribute to Clara Rockmore, using their logo as a Theremin with Clara playing it. It does not get any bigger than that in securing her legacy forever. Congratulations to Clara & Nadia, their family, their Foundation and the world for her well earned recognition.

Well, we had a little snow today on Cape Cod and that only inspires us more to get this Show on the Road down to Louisiana. We will be driving down at the start of April and will be visiting friends & family in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Arizona & New Mexico. There have been several exciting new developments since our last Newsletter! Rich & Tee celebrated their 30th Anniversary on March 16th on Cape Cod. The GEFQ received a new Platinum VIP Donation towards the NYC & DC Shows from Jerry & Sue Schurmeier (seen below) who have supported us every step of the way! That is their son, Mark Schurmeier, as part of our Wedding Party in the "Threshold" photo from Exuma, Bahamas where we eloped 30 years ago. Tragically, Mark perished on 9/11 in the Towers while attending a one day event for Freddie Mac. It certainly makes Tee & I appreciate each and every day of our time here on this adventure together.

Another Auction Record event Rockmore concerns Noel Rockmore's friend and NOLA artist Jose Marie Cundin. Shirley, encouraged by Larry Borenstein, collected several of  Cundin's mid 70s works at the same time she collected Rockmore. In order to help fund the Rockmore Project, we took some of her Cundin works to New Orleans Auction shortly after Hurricane Katrina. It was the 1st time a Cundin had ever been auctioned and they were a major hit selling all the way up to $11,000 and funding several years of the Noel Rockmore Project. We reconnected with Cundin through Andy Antippas and Cundin attended several of our NOLA events. This past week, a Cundin Artwork (not ours but from the same era) sold for a Record $41,000 at Auction in New Orleans. Cundin is now at a whole new level as a recognized viable NOLA artist thanks to Shirley & Larry. When he was not so viable back in 2002, Shirley commissioned him to do the SIGNED Mary Landrieu painted campaign poster that was not accepted and is on our eBay this week.

We are excited that we will see Rockmore Patron Yvonne Murray again on our road trip. Yvonne bought one of the special works at the recent Auction that were taken from Shirley's apartment after Katrina. Crescent City Auction sold 17 out of 19 Rockmores last month establsihing a New Rockmore Record for "MOST Artworks Sold in 1 Auction." Yvonne will present the one she won back to Shirley when we see her in Mississippi in April. Our mission has always been to get Rockmore the Artworld attention he deserves and these special connections for Shirley have been the extra treasures we have found along the way. We will see F. Peter Rose in Tuscon, Rockmore's best friend and confidant during his years in New York in the early 70s. Peter has already donated much of his Rockmore memorabilia to the GEFQ Foundation (his Haiti brochure is in our eBay list) and he has encouraged Rockmore & us all along.

Last but not least, we will be picking up Andrea Lannin's (Rockmore's NY girlfriend in the mid 70s) artwork and belongings in Albuquerque and taking them to her new place for her hospice in Sharon, Connecticut. Andrea has decided to retire from her career in New Mexico and also her medical treatments for cancer. She has taught us so much about Rockmore, the Artworld, New York and FaceBook marketing (Andrea was an early adopter). We look forward to working with her on the upcoming shows now that she will be close at hand and we stand in awe of her courage.

We appreciate each and every one of you and our time together. We hope you will consider making a donation towards the upcoming shows through our eBay coming up THIS Wednesday March 23 9PM ET. You can also help by signing up to sponsor our shows - see details below!

May you enjoy and appreciate all the moments this spring has to offer!
