Copper Canyon Press is a nonprofit publisher that believes poetry is vital to language and living.
Since 1972, the Press has published poetry exclusively and has established an international reputation for its commitment to authors, editorial acumen, and dedication to the poetry audience. They have selected for their Book Cover the Noel Rockmore Artwork "Migration I," 1984 executed in Mill Valley, CA.

Major support has come from Lannan Foundation, the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Washington State Arts Commission, Humanities Washington, the Breneman-Jaech Foundation, Mellon Foundation, Lila Wallace / Reader's Digest Fund, the Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry, and the Starbucks Foundation.
The cover of the book by Ed Skoog, a rising star in the poetry world, is to be published on or about Fall 2016, in a quantity of 5,000 copies. We will certainly keep you posted on how to get one when they are available.

It's interesting that Dave Grohl & Booker T Glass share a similar pose.

We have been working hard and getting things lined up for the 2 Rockmore Shows in NYC & DC. We have just returned from a recent New York City trip filled with great ideas, new contacts and plenty of optimism. See more on our Rockmore Shows Update at the bottom of this Newsletter.

The James Beard Foundation released the semifinalists for this year's Chef and Restaurant Awards, among the highest honors in the American culinary arts. Rockmore Collector, Patron & French Quarter Icon JoAnn Clevenger was nominated as one of the BEST Restaurateurs in the Nation. You can see a Jazz Rockmore behind her in the photo as she leads the article in The Times Picayune. JoAnn has always supported us and is a VIP Platinum Sponsor of our GEFQ's NYC & Washington DC Rockmore Show effort. JoAnn's Restaurant, The Upperline, currently has the most Rockmores that you can see in one place at any time. Thank You JoAnn, for keeping our fires burning bright and good luck!

Sad News - The Noel Rockmore Community lost a great Collector and supporter of all our activities on February 9th. Thomas "Tom" Ruth passed away in Philadelphia after a most exciting life adventure. Tom was an educator his entire life with a majority being of that time being at a private boarding school in Pennsylvania. He came to us through an eBay Rockmore collector looking for something special and collectible for his retired teacher and lifetime mentor. Over the last few years he collected many of Shirley's finest works for his collection and we all came to be friends. Shirley & Tom shared a love of old maps and posed in front of them when we visited him at his home in Philadelphia this past May. Tom took us on a special tour of the Barnes Museum on another visit in August. We knew he was getting medical attention for a debilitating disease but we were never quite sure what it was or how ill he was. This is because he would talk about the excitement of the treatments like he was a teacher on a big science adventure, learning all the time. He was full of life and wanted to know about you, your opinions and why you felt that way. Often times you were emotionally defending or challenging the beliefs of the veteran teacher and he loved that. He will be missed by all he touched and his legacy will live on in our community as we create future shows that will feature many of his important Rockmore works. Thank you Tom for sharing the dream with us and rest in peace our dear friend.

This is a very exciting time for us as we try and put all of the pieces of the puzzle into place. We are on it and we appreciate all of your support and encouragement.

Until next month,

Shirley, Rich & Tee Marvin

Several Katrina Found Rockmores are coming up at Auction this weekend
February 27th & 28th at Crescent City Auction.
Check out their web site or Bid Live or by Absentee.
Many of these works in shrink wrap (not the framed ones) were offered to us at our 2009 Shirley & Gypsy Lou Birthday Celebration at Bryant Galleries. The unusual thing was that some of them are inscribed to Shirley who never gave anything away touched by Rockmore especially with her name on it. John Ed Bradley was with us when we were shown these works for purchase at the Bryant Galleries Celebration and he wanted to tackle the seller. The works were all professionally shrink wrapped and when we asked the seller where they came from, he said that "a man rescued them from a dumpster at Shirley's apartment complex after Katrina" and he purchased them from a man that purchased them from the man that rescued them. Sadly, Shirley had not documented any of her minor works on paper so she had no way to try and claim them legally. Now we will promote them and although none of the proceeds go to Shirley, any purchase of a work at auction helps Rockmore. Sometimes you have to let go of the ownership of the work and realize that in the big picture, Shirley's dream is getting the artist known, and selling at auction helps because it is a public record. We also like the fact that Crescent City Auction would offer so many Rockmores in one auction. This could bode well for other paper work Rockmore collection coming to light but only if they have success with this one.

Rockmore Shows Update!
We have $15,000 left to raise so that the 2 shows are pre-funded. The response has been great from collectors who want to put works in the show to sell at 10X the current market value at 50:50 with our Non Profit GEFQ. Once we complete our fundraising and commit to a NYC date & venue, we will turn our attention to a DC Date & Venue. Once that is set, we will return to lining up the consignments and artworks for the show. Then we pick up the artworks across the country while documenting the artworks for the Show catalog and insurance. Then a massive PR blitz and on with the show, this is it!

We do have some exciting opportunities for all of you to be involved right now. Our sponsorship opportunities are listed below and include DOUBLE TICKETS as listed (until we announce that first show date - then tickets are $100 each), a work of art, our Show catalog and books. The VIP Tickets will include at least 3 scheduled party events with food, drinks & music, gifts, a lecture event, a private walk through and running around with the group for a whole weekend as we have done at all our other shows.  If you are interested in our VIP Levels and want to see the Art Rewards that are currently available not on this eBay just send us an email.
