"On June 20, 1951, Noel Davis married Elizabeth Hunter in New York City. On their honeymoon in Valles, Mexico, his car hit a cow and was demolished. The newlyweds were uninjured, although the bride was upset when Noel insisted upon sketching the dying animal. Upon the couple's return to New York they settled into the typical life of a young married couple, living in the "Des Artistes" complex. From 1951 to 1957 there were three children born of the marriage."

What an exciting summer we are having so far. After helping coordinate the BEST Osterville Rotary Bluefish Tourney ever, we spent the rest of July in Louisiana where it hit 100+ every day we were there! We had some fascinating interviews with artists the GEFQ is considering representing. We also had some family events with weddings & birthdays and then we returned up to Cape Cod with Shirley Marvin. More celebrations up here in the 70 degree summer including our Rabbi Elias Lieberman's, 25th Anniversary being our Rabbi in Falmouth Gala Party. We had some nice family get-togethers including Shirley catching up with her little brother Alan Green. May we all live so long to look so good at 89 & 93 as they do in this picture!

Shirley returns to Louisiana next week and then we will continue planning our next BIG GEFQ event which includes sponsoring a Rockmore Show in New York City and perhaps including some NEW GEFQ living artists we have been working with. Our 1st GEFQ Award Winner, Bruce Davenport Jr., has hit a few homeruns this summer which we are happy to share. This includes having his Artwork featured in this months Harper's Magazine, and being the feature Show this summer at Arthur Roger Gallery & White Linen Night's "The Dapper Bruce Lafitte Introduces: Draw Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee" a tribute to Muhammad Ali. Bruce's latest interview, "The Game is Mine," captures him better than any article to date. Bruce has actually changed his artist name to "Dapper Bruce Lafitte" and will start signing his works with that name only. We feel honored to know Bruce and are auctioning off a 3rd Series work that Shirley purchased in 2008 on this Monday's eBay. 2008 St. Augustine HS Purple Knights by Bruce Davenport Jr - 22x28 Mixed Media on Paper - Signed & Inscribed - Click on link or image below.

White Linen Night 2014
David Wall, our graduate scholar in residence, is helping us put together a Wikipedia page for Dapper Bruce Lafitte as well as Byron Levy, a French Quarter artist that we have chosen to recognize as one of our GEFQ artists in the coming year. Our immediate focus is trying to put this NYC show together which will require our biggest fundraising effort to date. We are excited and optimistic about making this happen and will keep you posted as we go along!

Of course, we can not do any of this if we don't raise funds to keep going next week and that is where you come in. We have an eBay Auction this Monday that is the most important one ever because we need it to keep us moving forward. Even if you can only make one bid, it really, really helps. Last June our Auction was one of the most fun & hotly contested eBays ever because so many folks were trying to win. Please do your part to make that happen again!

We thank you for the honor of being on this great adventure!

P.S. Once again our son, Sam Marvin, has two works in this weeks eBay. Sam's Rockmore connection is that he is Shirley's grandson and he was instrumental in editing our Rockmore book. He did pretty well last time and loves the opportunity to support his Grandmother's cause so click below.
