This 1964 Preservation Hall Portraits Rockmore " Billee Pierce and Josiah Frazier"

with Vincent Price Collection labels just sold out of a Connecticut Auction House last week

for $6750!

That makes it #17 out of the Top 20 works sold ALL TIME for Rockmore at Auction.

There was a New #4 at $21,620 a few weeks before that. This is OUTSTANDING and perhaps more Rockmore Art across this country will be setting records at Auction! We will keep you posted!

What an exciting summer we are having so far. We took Shirley Marvin to Cape Cod and then to Tucker's graduation from Hampshire College (the last of our five kids). In Philadelphia we had a great visit with an important Rockmore Collector and then we traveled back to Louisiana. We spent the month in Louisiana visiting several new artists we are hopeful of promoting. The Mission of the GEFQ is to share our expertise that we have learned in promoting Rockmore to current living artists that we think should be recognized and documented. The DREAM is to have a GEFQ Touring Show that would feature Rockmore and three other artists that we would schedule, promote and maximize their media attention and artistic recognition. We would want to have a tour book that would feature works in the Show from each artist and a nice concise art biography.

The reality is that is hard to pull off but having a good DREAM is the first step. Rich's friend from High School is working in a graduate program that has a technical writing component. He has recently offered to help put together Wikipedia Sites for several of the artists next month as part of his coursework. He will also be making a Guide (available through GEFQ) so other Artists and/or their families can have a step by step process of how best to do such a task. It took us years to gather enough data on Noel Rockmore and his parents to make their Wikipedia sites over several months so this offer of free help is a nice win.

In order to make this dream a reality we will have to sell some art and raise some funds. There are less than 50 Framed Rockmores left in the GEFQ Collection including Shirley's and the consigned works. We are putting out the call to any Rockmore Collectors that have works they wish to consign for this coming tour to let us know. Meanwhile, we have an eBay up this Thursday that has the last of the less than 100 works on paper we have left. Even if you can only make one bid, it really helps.

PS. This Rockmore on eBay is being sold as Mort Sahl but it is actually Mort Jans, Victor Potamkin's brother-in- law. It is not ours and based on the use of the unflattering descriptive term "The Mad Artist of New Orleans" we think we know the seller it is SO BUYER BEWARE! The Artworld is a jungle but no match for a former middle school teacher because we smell cheating descriptions with our eyes closed.
