The #4 ALL TIME Rockmore Auction Record set at Aspire Auctions in Cleveland, Ohio.
No, it was not ours :<( - Shirley Marvin was not allowed to buy any Jazz works even though she wanted them because Rockmore did not want her money being shared with any dealers. Her sage advice, "Never, EVER, listen to the artist, go with your heart instead!" It was owned by the Lezius-Hiles Company in Cleveland. After the Lezius family sold its interest in 1977, the company was brought to bankruptcy by its management and sold again in 1986 to 3 investors who liquidated the assets including the art and then closed it.

We hope that you are having a nice spring with good weather. We have had two very exciting Rockmore events in the last three days. The #4 ALL TIME Auction Record was an amazing moment brought on by all the collectors we contacted making bids and creating major activity. Then other folks felt the excitement that something big was happening and jumped in and it just went crazy good for all of us that enjoy seeing Rockmore do well.

The next exciting moment was meeting Rockmore's 2nd wife, Robin and her husband, in New York City for the first time. We had known of Robin for the 10 years we have been doing the Project but there were very few leads and they all went cold. In our minds, she had been off the grid since 1968 and then out of the blue this past year she contacted us that led to our meeting. It was like walking right back into 1968 and hearing first hand stories of characters that we had only researched or seen pictures of. Suddenly, Victor Potamkin & his wife Luba were alive, Sergio Franchi and his wife, Jerry Yulsman and so many more. She walked us through the scenes at the Des Artiste, McGlades, meeting the parents, getting married, life with Rockmore as his wife and then peacefully dissolving the marriage and going their own ways forever.

She gave up the legal last name of Rockmore and took a stage name which is why we could not find her. She went on to a singing, acting and a modeling career that included the Israel liqueur ad below. That ad actually towered over Manhattan

on a billboard for many years before electronic billboards were invented. It was a magical visit and we hope to do it again and perhaps, as she feels comfortable, an interview to share. She is as kind and beautiful today as she was in 1968 and we certainly understand why Rockmore chose to marry her even though he could not make it work. At least he realized it quickly and set her free to live an amazing life.

We caught up with GEFQ Hero Amongst Us, Dapper Bruce Lafitte, in NOLA. His latest creations are 10x6 ft works of Civil War battles, Cowboys & Indians, etc with over 1000 characters in dramatic scenes. It's gonna be BIG!

Byron Levy, 92, mom's neighbor and a recognized watercolor artist posing with the works that sold on eBay last auction for GEFQ. He could not be happier that his works went out to new owners and he still creates art every single day!

This work is up in our Auction that ends this coming Monday. In 1957 Byron Levy visited Provincetown, MA and captured the dock which was the main attraction!

1961 Pirates Alley by Lou Webb 11 x 8 Mixed Media - donated to GEFQ 3 years ago by Vince & Linda Lowder. After being seen at 10 events in 3 years, it is now on eBay for you to own and help support the GEFQ! Click to see.

This is Lou at the Common area at her place in Slidell, LA on our last visit. She is looking good and really seems relaxed and happy for the most part. She would like more visitors but her short term memory has made it so she does not know who most folks are unless you give an explanation and have visual clues.

This is Lou who will have her 99th Birthday April 29th, taking her first "selfie." She was game for the adventure and made as laugh as she was asking "who the hell is that old lady on your phone and for that matter, who are you guys." Louise Webb, Azalea Estates, 354 Robert Blvd. Room 212, Slidell, LA, 70458.
