The GREAT News is that 145 Final works have been selected for the Lake Charles Museum Show - "The Genius of Noel Rockmore." The Opening & The Party will be on Friday Night September 5th consolidated into a one night BIG event. The Museum will be open from 10AM-2PM on Saturday and we will be in town to celebrate on Saturday with out of town guests in Lake Charles but we need to know who might be coming so please RSVP and let us know. We will keep you posted on logistics and plans as we go. Below is the 1st paragraph of the press release by the Museum.
Extraordinary Rockmore Art Discovery in New Orleans Warehouse Comes to Lake Charles The City of Lake Charles will host The Genius of Noel Rockmore at the 1911 Historic City Hall Arts & Cultural Center. An opening reception will be held Friday, September 5; doors will open at 5:30pm with a gallery talk beginning at 6pm. The event will be open to the public and refreshments will be served. Guests will meet Noel Rockmore's lifelong art patron, Shirley Marvin, and the founders of the Noel Rockmore Project, Tee and Rich Marvin. They will share their fascinating story of how the forgotten body of works of a genius was discovered in storage units in New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Historic City Hall is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are gladly accepted. Any press is good press right? The lead in the New Orleans Advocate about NOLA Artist Rolland Golden's book is the promise that you will hear stories of Rockmore and his women. We have always tried to keep the focus on Rockmore and his Art but Noel Rockmore was legendary on a number of levels. It is a compliment that another artist, who was his friend, would share Rockmore women tales to garner interest in his book. We will buy Rolland Golden: Life, Love, and Art in the French Quarter on Amazon and get back to you.
It has been a great roadtrip and summer and these are this weeks adventures!

Fun at the Norman Rockwell Exhibition at the LaGrange Art Museum - you should go!The Cochran Gallery in LaGrange is exhibiting Curlee Raven Holton - it's amazing work! We had a few more sponsors step forward for the catalog via our last eBay and we thank Yvonne Murray, JoAnn Clevenger, Matthew Layne, Strefan Fauble, Nicholas Noecker, Brian & Lily Monk, Melissa Morgan and John Bartenstein as well as earlier donors F. Peter Rose, Russ & Peggy Daulton, John & Doris Babcock and Carl & Jill Kickham. One small bid on any of the eBay works below goes a long way towards keeping the Rockmore recognition going even if you don't get the work. The Auction ends this Sunday at 9PM ET and your support could give us the boost we need. We WILL make this catalog a reality and we are over half way there but we just need a "little more help from our friends."
Thanks to everyone for believing,
Shirley, Rich & Tee Marvin The Golden Era of the French Quarter Team
