Rockmore #1 "Cool" NOLA Icon! 3 Art Exhibition/Book Signings and Gala Event!

Noel Rockmore was voted the "Coolest" figure in New Orleans History! The NOLA.com/Times-Picayune arts and entertainment staff, selected fifteen New Orleanians from throughout history that they think epitomize the concept of cool, according to the "American Cool" rubric. The Rockmore Social Media Community rocketed him to #1 over Dr. John & Allen Toussaint and sent Gypsy Lou Webb to #4!

Our GEFQ Book, Noel Rockmore & Shirley Marvin, "Our Journey to the Discovery of Rockmore" is now available on Amazon! We will send you a nice mailer of Mardi Gras beads with your book purchase or for those that already purchased in exchange for a nice review on the Amazon site. All Kickstarter books and Art Rewards have been mailed out so let us know if you did not get yours!

This Rockmore Artwork from 1966, "Charbonnet Tomb, St. Louis No. 1", is coming up at New Orleans Auction on March 16th, 2014 from a Private Collector. It is a mixed media on paper, signed, titled and dated lower right, sight 13" x 9". Glazed, matted and presented in a carved, polychrome frame.

If you can pop in this Sunday March 9th at Dearman's on Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge between 4-7PM as a show of support for the book launch and our new non profit, it would mean everything to us! This event and those below below are all FREE except the GALA which is FREE to those that RSVP in advance. No purchases are required at all - just a chance to be social, see some great art and meet nice folks with food & drink provided!

*Note - When Rich was a teenager in the 70s, Dearmans was a drug store, soda fountain, all sorts of commodities and magazine shop in the heart of the Goodwood/Bocage/Tara Area. We rode our bikes there and eventually drove and were treated to a piece of Americana run by the nicest folks in the world, The Dearmans, whose son David was an EHS classmate & teammate. Dearman's eventually changed hands and is now a Full Soda Shop and the proprietor is Rich's childhood neighbor and his brother Mike's best friend, David Van Gelder. This will be old home week - please join us!

*NoteAndy Antippas, the proprietor of Barristers Gallery, worked for Larry Borenstein at one time and was also one of Rockmore's best friends and confidants throughout his life starting in the early 70s. Andy has been helpful to Shirley, Rich & Tee every step of the way in this adventure including the offer to do this signing at his place. Andy was smart enough to marry Tricia who starred in the television show where Rich & Tee first met 30 years ago. Rich & Tee Marvin can think of no better place to celebrate their 28th Anniversary than with Andy & friends at this casual event on March 16th. It promises to be filled with all sorts of "Magic Moments" and we would love to see you.
