Upcoming Events - 1st Ed. Shirley-Rockmore Book SOLD OUT
Rockmore's at 3 Auction Houses this weekend!

Happy Holidays and we hope you are well! We have some really exciting news to share.

This weekend December 7th & 8th there are Rockmore Artworks at 3 different Auction Houses which is a New Rockmore Record. The details are listed above and below in this Newsletter.

The GREAT News is that we have been able to SELL OUT the Limited 1st Edition of 500 signed, numbered and inscribed Noel Rockmore & Shirley Marvin - Our Journey to the Discovery of Rockmore books! There will be a 2nd Edition that will be printed for those that would still like to get a book. See ordering info at the bottom, it's going to be AWESOME! We have completed 80 out of 120 pages in 35 days of working around the clock and not leaving the house. Special thanks to the kids that did all of the "Thanksgivi-nukah" shopping, preparations and presentations. The "Revised" Book Goal is to ship all books that have been pre-ordered (1st & 2nd Editions) by the end of December - we will keep you posted.

The Golden Era of the French Quarter 501c3 Non Profit Foundation(GEFQ) has reserved 2 dates for events at the Bevolo Gas Light Museum on Royal Street (in the old Bryant Galleries space).

Come see a Rockmore Art Exhibition, pick up a book and meet the GEFQ folks in person. There will be books signed, art for viewing or purchase, raffles, door prizes and great fun.

Saturday March 22nd, 2014 6-9PM - Bevolo Gas Light Museum

We will honor some VERY SPECIAL people for their contributions to the Golden Era of the French Quarter. This will be a Dress Up Event with music, great food & drink and Awards and Presentations. There will be books signed, art for viewing or purchase, raffles, door prizes and great fun. Admission is $20 (FREE to all GEFQ members - if you bought a book, you are a member).

This Event will occur in the middle of the Annual Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival March 19-23. Rockmore & Tennessee Williams "literally" lived in the same building in the French Quarter at one point.

In early February 2014, we will be doing a book signing at The Crescent City Auction House in New Orleans at their Wednesday Open House event with Free food & drinks. There will be a MAJOR MAJOR Rockmore that will be auctioned off in that auction.

September 4, 2014 to November 1, 2014 - The Cultural Center of Lake Charles

The Cultural Center has booked the GEFQ to curate a Rockmore & French Quarter Artist Show. The Show will have an Opening Event, a Party, lectures and the chance to view and purchase artwork. The dream is to book another venue after that and travel with Shirley & the Show as we continue to spread the word about Rockmore and The Golden Era of the French Quarter.

This book project is the hardest project that we have ever attempted. It is also one of the most rewarding and to be able to complete it while Shirley can really enjoy is is the greatest gift of all.

Thank you all for making it happen! WE ARE ON IT!

BEST Holiday Season Ever to you!

1974  F. Peter Rose Portrait - Painting Destroyed
F. Peter Rose (Rockmore friend, promoter and neighbor in NYC (74-77):
"This is an image of me painted by Rockmore in 1974. It has some of my essence but I feel it is mostly a mirror image of Rockmore's features and brooding mood. The countenance & intense eyes are representative of Rockmore's soul. I will never hang it but feel it is nevertheless an extraordinary work. Perhaps some day it will be valuable if Rockmore gets the recognition he deserves. Signed - F. Peter Rose" (Pete Rose, 90+, eventually destroyed this work by cutting it into little pieces and has felt guilty about it ever since. We promised we would put it in this Newsletter and it's in the book as well.)
