WE DID IT!
The Kickstarter Noel Rockmore & Shirley Marvin Book "Our Journey to the Discovery of Rockmore" is officially funded. We thank everyone that made it happen or tried to make it happen. We APOLOGIZE to all of our loyal Rockmore fans that were frustrated by the Kickstarter & Amazon process; we never dreamed it would be so hard. The GREAT News is you can still get in because we received funding for 500 signed, numbered, dated 120 Page First Edition books and only 325 are spoken for. You may pre-order from now until October 6th by sending your check for $40 to GEFQ, 3443 Esplanade Ave #607, New Orleans, LA, 70119. Several Book packages are Available at the bottom of this email.

There was a moment at the LASM Opening when Tee & I saw Shirley Marvin patiently signing the LASM Programs at the Exhibition for a line of folks. Imagine after 50 years of believing in an artist and a dream that he might be recognized to be alive and acknowledged in your home town for making it happen. For Tee and I, the ability to do this journey with her over the last 7 years and see it actually blossom to this unprecedented level of Rockmore Arriving is our dream come true.

The fact that at the very moment we seemed completely thwarted on our Kickstarter Project, all of our family, friends from childhood through now, organizations and most important, each and everyone of our kids and Shirley's Grandchildren who rallied their friends to make it happen has become a defining "family life event" for us. And as Shirley's favorite Frank Sinatra would sing, "Fairy Tales can come true, they can happen to you, if you are young at heart. You can go to extremes with impossible dreams, if you are young at heart."

Our wish in this New Fall season and New Year is that you may find people to believe in your dreams like you have in ours.

Thank you one and all,

Shirley, Rich & Tee Marvin

Shirley Marvin has enjoyed each and every moment of this Rockmore ascension but none more so than this article, Noel, Noel! by New Orleans Artworld Icon, Rhodes Scholar, and writer Keith Marshall in Nola Vie.

Not only does Keith deliver a well versed review but also shares several of his own Rockmore's not seen by the public in over 50 years. We hope you might like or comment on this article to let Keith know how much we appreciate his story.

2 HNOC Edwin

Edwin Blair at HNOC -

Doug MacCash Article

This article, Jon and Gypsy Lou Webb, Bukowski and the 1960s French Quarter, by Times Picayune Arts Writer, artist and Rockmore supporter, Doug MacCash, is on Gypsy Lou Webb, Edwin Blair, JoAnn Clevenger and the HNOC LouJon Press Exhibition. It has seven images and is just a fantastic testament to all of the principals involved.

This article "Counter-Culture Heros" the HNOC Exhibit on Loujon Press Showcases 1960's New Orleans, by Emma Boyce will give you a great feel for the Exhibition if you can not attend. It also features a 2nd Version photo by the late Johnny Donnels, titled, "Tenants Anyone?" of Rockmore & Lou. The Title is a tongue in cheek title referring to the difficulty many landlords had with these two wild and crazy Bohemian French Quarter kids.

This final article is "Neither Big nor Easy, A Pilgrimage to Gypsy Lou Webb, New Orleans Patron Saint of Beat Literature" by Michael Patrick Welch for Vice Magazine.

Rockmore's Coming Up at Auction SOON!
2 Crescent City 77.1165 - Gypsy Lou Webb in Flower Dress - SGM

Pastel Portrait of Gypsy Lou Webb

1977 Shirley Marvin Collection

Saturday September 7th Lot# 395 at Crescent City Auction 504-529-5057 featuring Lou in plain clothes (not in her typical Gypsy outfit). There will not be many Gypsy Lou Webb Rockmore works that come up ay Auction in the near future and this timing was perfect.

2 57 RockmoreNoel-CattleBranding-1374625662

Lot#267 - 1957 Cattle Branding Masterwork

that is coming up on Saturday September 14th at

The Jackson Hole Art Auction 866-549-9278.

This work is from his Life Magazine Commission in 1957 that did not make the Magazine but was part of his time at The Grange Fair in Pennsylvania. How it ended up in Jackson Hole & how Rockmore got access to it to change his name from Noel Davis to Rockmore are just 2 of the mysteries surrounding this work. It is superior to the 'Grange Fair" work that was in the 1957 Life Magazine. This work serves as a template for several of his 1957 Cowboy Etchings.
