The LASM Rockmore Show, The Faith & The Fury: Noel Rockmore & His Patron, is now up on their web site and below is the LASM copy for the FREE opening event, now officially Thursday July 25th from 5-8PM.

"The Faith, The Fury, and The Festivities"  from 5-8PM  Thursday July 25th, 2013
Join us for this special night in celebration of the new exhibition, The Faith & The Fury: Noel Rockmore & His Patron. At 6 PM, listen as Shirley Marvin, Rockmore's long-time friend and patron, recounts her relationship with the artist himself. Shirley's son Rich and his wife Tee will then lead a tour of Rockmore's works at 6:45. Or, if you prefer, browse the exhibition at your own leisure then have a drink and chat about it with your friends. Complimentary wine and exclusive hors' devours courtesy of Capital City Grill will also be served at this FREE event.
* The show will run from July 20th through October 6th, 2013 in Baton Rouge, LA at the LASM.

We have seen the preliminary ask list of the Over 50 Masterpiece Rockmore Artwoks from Curator Elizabeth Weinstein and this WILL BE the most AWESOME display of Rockmore Art in a Show EVER! From multiple collectors all across this country, Rockmore Art will come and be displayed in a show that will move Rockmore up the ladder of Artworld Recognition.

Vincent Price, Odetta, Mike Stark, Larry Borenstien, Bill Russell, Ruthie the Duck Girl, Alpine John, Sister Gertrude, Mother Margaret, Kid Shiek, Babe Stovall, Billie & DeDe, Louis Nelson, Captain Handy and many others will be there together for this one moment in time. That does not even include the New Orleans & French Quarter scenes from the 60s to the 70s and the largest collection of the Table Masterwork Series ever in any show.

More Rockmore events, in August 2013, Rockmore will be featured in two shows in New Orleans, Louisiana. One at the Old US Mint that celebrates "Preservation Hall" at 50 and features many Rockmore Portraits of the Jaffe Family and Pres Hall Musicians. Rockmore will also be a part of the Historic New Orleans Collection Exhibit on The Printing Press that features Lou Jon Press (Gypsy Lou & Jon Webb) with many Rockmore paintings including The Homage to the French Quarter (a must see in person).

With Gypsy Lou on her 97th Bday
tl final We were able to get together with Gypsy Lou Webb on her 97th  Birthday April 29th, 2013 when we surprised her with Cake and Corona's. She did not eat the cake but had a beer and certainly enjoyed all of the festivity. There was plenty of festivity in New Orleans for us with the Jazzfest, Bayou Boogalou, and ongoing series of life events and food and culture that are flying at you. We had a super time at Barrister's Gallery with longtime Shirley and Rockmore friend, owner Andy Antippas. The Show featured Rockmore Collector & Artist, Michael Fedor. It has been a pleasure watching Michael work his way up through his art career and we sure had fun at that Opening!

We worked hard with Elizabeth Weinstien on the LASM Museum Show helping every way that we could including Shirley who is really loving the process. Elizabeth made it fantastic especially for all of the old & new Rockmore fans that will get this once in a lifetime Rockmore & Shirley treat. The fact that Shirley is enjoying being celebrated in her 91st year with the artist she fought her whole life for recognition is a great story that we are all involved in.

We are trying to plan events that will coordinate with all schedules for those visiting this summer that want to get together for Rockmore related events and art site-seeing. Let us know what dates you will be around and what is of interest to you. Our immediate goal is to set the record for attendance for any Art Show ever in Baton Rouge. We will be seeking help with our LA friends to make this opening a Major newsworthy event.

We are also trying to put together several videos of Rockmore's friends remembering him, launch our GEFQ Foundation, put together a Commemorative Book on Shirley & Rockmore, promote the new Rockmores others are selling through us, make it to our son Sam Marvin's Graduation from Univ of Chicago Graduate School at 22 (proud family & parents moment), and get the art from across the country to the LASM as we visit with and document art, collectors and characters along the way.

We are honored to be so busily blessed together.

Very Sad to hear of one of Shirley Marvin's closest friends, Pat Evans, passing in New Orleans May 2nd. They were political activists together for Women's Rights in Louisiana (and many causes for social equality). To my generation she was Miss Pat from Romper Room on Baton Rouge TV as we were growing up. Her work paved the way for others and she will be missed. The Funeral at St. Augustines in Treme included a Catholic Mass with a Rockin Jazz Band and a spiritual electrifying gospel lead singer.
