Greetings!
It's April and Rockmore seems to be Springing out all over the place!
He will be appearing in the electronic version of "Song for my Fathers" by Tom Sancton, as well as an upcoming LASM Jazz Print Show. Later this summer is "The Faith & the Fury: Noel Rockmore and his Patron" and the official dates for that show are July 20th through October 6th, 2013 in Baton Rouge, LA at the LASM.
The Noel Rockmore Project Newsletter earned us a Constant Contact (Newsletter service) All-Star Award for the first time. This Award is based on many criteria but it was our open rate (over 50% - industry average under 10%) and our multiple pronged approach (web site, FaceBook, You Tube, Pinterest, eBay & other links) that were cited in earning this distinction for the first time. You guys did it - thank you all!
In our 2nd month in NOLA, we have met many collectors, new & old, and made several sales out of Shirley's Storage Unit - immortalized in John Ed Bradley's "The Tomb of Noel Rockmore" article. We are still scouting for our 1st GEFQ Gallery/Museum site and can't wait until we have our own place. Meanwhile, we are in the process of taking in over 20+ Rockmore consignments and getting them ready for viewing and sale. More on that as JazzFest approaches but first it is the French Quarter Fest (it's always some major event in NOLA).
We trekked back up to the frozen north late in March to see our kids, celebrate our 27th Anniversary - thank you Tee, spend Passover with friends and pack up some more things that we need for our new home in NOLA. It was very hard to go from the beautiful Louisiana spring in full bloom back to the frozen tundra of Cape Cod in time for 3 snow events!

Tee & Lou with new hair! |
We visited with Gypsy Lou Webb in Slidell before we left and Tee was able to dye her hair jet black just like she likes it. Her social worker was there and helped out especially when we discovered the kitchen sink leak. We will try to get her up and about and visiting New Orleans and The Senior Center again as she heads into her 97th year (April 29th). In the meantime, PLEASE drop her a note - Gypsy Lou Webb, 1050 Cousin St. - Apt. A, Slidell, LA, 70450.
We attended the Sweet-Arts Bash on Saturday March 9th at the Contemporary Arts Center and had an interesting time. It was much more of a party than an art event as you can see by the picture below.
One nice thing about our brief return to Cape Cod is the ability to get an eBay offering from the Shirley Marvin Collection posted for this Wednesday April 3rd at 10PM ET. There is a new start time as well as an additional Minimum Reserve. We will soon be selling Rockmore works on commission for others and we have to implement this Reserve so this is our 1st test (so far so good). Our policy has been to get Rockmore's distributed at a fair price to as many folks as possible. So far over 700 of you have participated from every walk of life and we thank you all.

We get asked all the time about what it is that we are doing and why we are doing it? "We are helping Shirley Marvin realize her dream in her lifetime of Noel Rockmore being recognized as a Master Artist. All of our actions and activities are tied to that vision and support it. This road has been much longer & harder than we ever imagined but we get to do it together and share this family adventure with everyone - especially you!"
Thanks for keeping us going,
Rich & Tee & Shirley Marvin
