Greetings!

On Friday October 5th, Rich & Tee & Shirley attended the LASM (Louisiana Arts & Science Museum) Golden Anniversary Gala for a fabulous evening of fun. What better way to start our return to Louisiana then with an event at the Museum that will celebrate Noel Rockmore and Shirley Marvin in the early Fall of 2013. The Museum was packed and we met so many new folks that are really excited to be a part of The Noel Rockmore Project.

On Thursday October 11th from 6-7PM, Rich & Tee went to The Old US Mint (Louisiana State Museum) in New Orleans, to attend Rockmore supporter, Claudia Kheel's lecture on 'When Art & Music Met: The Legacy of Preservation Hall." Claudia gave a FANTASTIC lecture on the complex interplay between music and the visual arts in the works of Noel Rockmore, Sister Gertrude Morgan, Lee Friedlander and other artists associated with Preservation Hall. The lecture was illustrated by a slide show that featured Noel Rockmore paintings and had music of the time period playing as well. Afterwards we took a tour of the Exhibition featuring Classic Rockmores - this is a MUST SEE!

1 Tee & Lou We stopped by to visit Gypsy Lou Webb in Slidell, Louisiana. Lou was doing well although her coloring has changed and she is visiting the doctors on a regular basis. Special Thank You to Sandi Miller Schweitzer who had visited Lou and added some festive decorating that made her really happy. Jolie, Lou's faithful dog and companion is now immobile but feisty as ever just like Lou. Lou loves the letters and cards and it is probably a good time to visit as well for those of you that do that. Send your cards to Gypsy Lou Webb, 1050 Cousin Street Apt. A, Slidell, LA, 70458.

The BIG Rockmore NEWS last month was that a well known Phd in the Artworld has published an Article on Noel Rockmore as part of the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities - KNOW LA Research Project. J. Richard Gruber Phd. is director emeritus of the Ogden Museum of Southern Art and an independent curator, art historian, and writer of the article.

We are now in Georgia picking up recently purchased Rockmores to be delivered. Special Thanks to the folks at Tyson Foods who have purchased two Rockmores for their Corporate Collection and in doing so have provided the initial seed funding for the Golden Era of the French Quarter Foundation. While we are here in Georgia we will be offering you a chance to own some major Rockmore works on a first come basis through this Newsletter. See below for the Rules and details of the works available.
