'T-Wrap' Insulation : Tapes meet Insulation Blankets |
As you can well imagine, petrochemical, chemical, and oil & gas plants can often feature a complex array of flanges, valves, and piping. Some of this piping can be quite small in diameter, and feature electrically traced or glycol lines to prevent freezing. When looking to insulate these types of lines, maintenance personnel like the flexibility of tape, but desire the efficiency and efficacy of removable blankets. Firwin's 'T-Wrap' hopes to be able give them the best of both worlds.

A View from out West: Aging Plants, Corrosion and Insulation |
Don Tobin comes across plenty of processing facilities in his role as Firwin's western Canada sales manager. Don notes that many factors can reduce the operational life of aging plants piping, equipment and systems. One of these factors is corrosion under insulation. The caustic and corrosive nature of the materials flowing through the plant makes constant maintenance and equipment replacement essential. How do we find a balance between ruptured lines and vessels and replacing corroded equipment and lines too soon?
