Prayer

For food in a world where many walk in hunger;
For faith in a world where many walk in fear;
For friends in a world where many walk alone;
We give You thanks, O Lord. Amen.

Top Ten Ways to Be an Outstanding Catechist

What does it take to be an outstanding catechist? This quick, easy-to-read pamphlet is perfect for encouraging current catechists to grow in these ten important characteristics, and for those considering becoming catechists to learn that it's a very achievable goal.

Getting to Know the Word of God
When kids come to parish schools or programs, there is quite a bit of variation in the amount of experience they have had with the Bible. Some will be able to look at Bible notation and find the passage readily, others will flip through with frustration at the thin pages and sea of unfamiliar names like Tobit and Titus. Level the playing field a bit and help kids get to know the Bible better by having them add tabs for each book of the Bible. Use a product like Post-It Flags; write the name of each book on a flag, and stick to the respective page in a stair-step fashion. You can even go a step further by color coding for the Old and New Testament. Kids will have summer Scripture fun with this month's TCK activities.
