Greetings!
 | | The Hoop Revolution TEDTalk!!! |
It has arrived!! At long last, the video of my TEDTalk is available! (Insert my Happy Hoopy Dance here!)
When I first heard that the video was uploaded onto the web, I was NOT celebrating. In fact, I basically had a full-on panic-attack. I walked up to my husband Michael and started bawling, fearing the absolute worst outcomes. Before even watching it, I had convinced myself that something must have gone wrong -- the video didn't record my talk, my performance actually sucked instead of being awesome as I remembered it to be, or that the video itself won't get watched by anyone other than my best friend Jean and me. All of my fears bubbled up in one slobbery freakout while being held in the arms of my love in the middle of the living room.
After talking me down, Michael gingerly asked if I was ready to watch it. (I hate hate HATE watching myself on video. It's excruciating.) Holding my husband's hand throughout the first viewing, I kept waiting to have the moment where I obsess endlessly over how awful I was. It never came. After thoroughly analyzing my 14-minutes of TED, I couldn't really find anything that was all that horrible, other than the fact that the video doesn't come close to capturing the magic and power that was that day. (Which is to be expected.) After finding nothing obvious to complain about, I was no longer a raving ninny, but I had not yet moved into joy.
We needed a second viewing.
I was able to watch it again, this time without holding Michael's hand. Tentatively I started to watch my TEDTalk as others would watch it, instead of picking apart every last word, gesture, pause and hoop trick (not to mention how I looked!) A few times I caught myself laughing at one of my bits and thinking, "Wow, I'm kind of charming there." The second viewing gave me a little more hope.
It seemed we needed a third and final viewing.
Michael took my decreasing levels of panic as an opportunity to take it to the next level -- viewing my video on our high-def TV. If I can stomach watching myself on that big boy, I can handle anything. By that time, I gave myself permission to FEEL the talk instead of analyzing it. I felt the prayer that I put in motion that day, and I basked in the energy of Joy, Power and Grace that the talk evoked. At the end of the third viewing of my 14 minutes, I smiled at Michael with happy tears in my eyes, threw my arms up in the air and said, "I did it!"
I did it. I did something incredibly terrifying and knocked it out of the park. I put myself out there for everyone to see (and judge), and I can be proud of what I accomplished. I put a prayer in motion to touch millions of hearts and lives around the world. In those few minutes, I got BIG.
Interestingly, the first day that the video came out brought with it some very real fears that I had harbored for years. Someone sent me an email that blurred boundaries and was inappropriately intimate, and I had my first hater say something nasty about me in a YouTube comment. But I also had a hundred people watch it the first day, and three hundred the next. Now, after only two weeks, it has been seen over 3100 times! WOO HOO! My job is to let go of the fears and embrace my role in the Joyful Movement Movement. Spirit is with me every step of the way, and I have all of the knowledge, power and protection I need to serve in the best way possible.
You too have all of the knowledge, power and protection you need to serve in the best way possible. You have everything you need to live the life you desire and deserve. You do not need to be afraid of the judgers and haters, nor do you need to worry about how your light makes others feel uncomfortable. Our time is NOW to step into our full magnificence!
Please a moment at your earliest convenience to watch my TEDTalk. If you are moved by it, I would be most grateful if you would share it with your peeps via Facebook, email or across the water cooler! I have asked Spirit to give my video "wings" to get my message out to the world, and it all starts with me sharing the message from my heart to yours. Thank you for your support!!!
