Greetings!
Happy 2013! There's always something nice about starting a year off fresh and new. There are so many opportunities to hit the Reset button.
If you are a long-time reader of The Rose Report, you know that I am religious about sending it out by the first of every month. When it came time to write this month's report, I simply ran out of time. My darling niece was in town from Abu Dhabi for the holidays, and I was in need of some serious downtime after burning it up at TEDxSarasota on December 12th (see below for more deets). Before I knew it, it was the afternoon of the 31st and I had not even started my newsletter. Michael, Emma and I were planning on spending New Year's Eve together having a yummy dinner that Michael would prepare, watch a family movie, and generally spend quality time in each other's presence. When I realized that I was late in writing my newsletter for the January 1st deadline, I had a choice: 1) forego my plans with my loved ones to churn it out in time, or 2) give myself permission to enjoy my day and release the need for perfection.
As you can see, I chose the latter.
This decision was an important one for me, because it reminded me of priorities. Yes, I love to connect with my 'tribe' and give a shot of inspiration every month. I also love to be great at what I do and be a consummate professional. However, I also know that I have a tendency to forget about what's really important in favor of doing one more task, sending one last email, and making one last phone call. My schedule conflict was a great reminder about priorities and the power of letting go of expectation. My life is getting busier, my schedule is getting fuller, and I believe things are only going to get nuttier from this point forward. The gift of December 31st -- and this month's Rose Report -- is to remind me of what is most important: Love, Family, Joy, Self-care, and Spirit. All of the rest will figure itself out.
In 2013, I invite you to join me in keeping our priorities in alignment with our values. Make sure that you are not sacrificing your own happiness for the elusive end zone. Don't forget to take some time to give hugs to those you love. Let go of the need for perfection. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter if you get your project done on Monday or Tuesday, as long as you enjoy both Monday AND Tuesday as if they were your last. If the tragedy of Sandy Hook and other recent senseless acts have taught us anything, it's this: life is too precious to get worked up about the silly stuff. The love in our hearts will always trump the items on our To-do list.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and I look forward to continuing the conversation with you in 2013 and beyond! Let's connect through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, blog, and email.
In joy,
Theresa

TEDxSarasota!!

Many of you have asked how my TEDTalk went on 12/12/12. Thank you so much for your support!!! The short answer is this: it was more amazing, more magical, more powerful, more joyful, and more Divine than I ever dreamed it could be. It was literally a highlight of my life, and I can't WAIT to send out the link of the video! Hopefully it will be available in the next two to three weeks. If you also get my Daily Dose of Mojo, you'll receive the link as soon as I get it. Otherwise, I'll be sure to include it in February's Rose Report and on my Facebook page.
I wish I could sit down with you to discuss every last juicy detail about that incredible day. On the morning of the 12th, I was a bundle of nerves and could barely keep it together. As in every situation where I am struggling, I asked Spirit for guidance and support, asking what I needed to do to make it as successful as possible. Spirit responded by asking me a simple question: "What are you here to do?" My response was threefold: 1) Touch the hearts of every single person who would see me on stage and everyone who would watch me on video, 2) Inspire them to action, and 3) Remind them of their Divinity. I was NOT there to deliver a flawless performance, record a perfect video that would be seen by millions, become famous, or meet Ellen. I was there to serve and to share an Idea Worth Spreading.
Once I let go of my ego and remembered why I was there in the first place, I was able to bring some serious juju to the occasion. Right before the doors of the gorgeous Historic Asolo Theatre opened, I stood onstage and sent massive love bombs from my heart to every single person who would be joining me in the theatre (270 individualized prayers to every seat), all of the fantastic staff and volunteers who helped pull it together, as well as everyone who would watch it on video. I asked Spirit to be with me and provide the perfect energy, words, and hoop-power to wake people up to their magnificence. By the end of my presentation, the audience was so juiced up that I had to yell my last lines in order to be heard! It was a cacophonous blend of joyful movement, hoop revival, and lovefest all rolled into the most amazing 12 minutes of my life. When it was all over and my unbridled jumping, fisting pumping and hollering subsided, my fellow hoop-jammers Kimberly Braun (another fabulous TEDTalker), BFF Jean and I collapsed in each others arms and wept from joy and gratitude at the experience. The rest of the day was filled with other inspiring talks and engaging conversations with brilliant thought leaders and visionaries. It was truly a Spirit-infused day and one I am itching to share with the world.
I have already been blessed beyond measure from my experience at TEDxSarasota. It reminded me of the power of community, friendship, prayer, and gratitude. The resulting video and its impact will be frosting on the most delicious cake ever! Stay tuned!

Stuff I Love
Girls for the World is a donor-supported organization dedicated to the growth, development, and empowerment of girls as powerful agents of social change. Karen Hanson, one of my dear friends, a spiritual sister and basically the closest thing to a saint I have ever had the privilege of meeting in person, started this AMAZING non-profit organization in October 2011 to teach girls around the world to know themselves, love themselves, and trust themselves. Since then, Karen and her team have had over 90 participants attend her five-day intensive and follow-up workshops in India, most of whom come from the most impoverished inner city slums and "untouchable" villages, many of whom having suffered unconscionable abuse and neglect. The work Karen does is nothing short of Divine, and she is sharing a profound experience of hope and power to girls who need it the most.
Here's what Afrin, one of the girls who attended the workshop, said how her life changed after participating: "Before the training I didn't like light. I only liked the dark. I was very silent. Now I like daylight and sunshine! All girls should go to Girls for the World. All girls need confidence and now I have it!"
If you are interested in helping to transform the life of a girl in need, please consider donating to this worthy organization. Visit GirlsfortheWorld.org to donate, read additional stories and view photos from previous workshops. You can also Like them on Facebook! My first order of business in 2013 was to donate $150, covering the cost of one girl's participation at an upcoming workshop. One of my goals this year is to be able to donate another $3000 which would cover all expenses related to a five-day intensive program for 20 participants. All donations are tax deductible too! I hope you can join me in helping girls discover a newfound dignity and understand their value, voice and gifts!
